Few on one of those recent podcasts mentioned they are really trying to get in as many marquee games in as possible.

I say screw it, lets add all of Baylor/Kansas/Kentucky/Duke/Michigan St./Rutgers. Straight gauntlet non-con.

Baylor game to be played Saturday, December 5, at 10 am PT in Indianapolis.

INDIANAPOLIS – Two of college basketball's top teams entering the 2020-21 season, Gonzaga and Baylor, will stage this year's marquee non-conference tilt Dec. 5 at 1 p.m. ET at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis, perhaps offering a preview of what could come in Lucas Oil Stadium at the conclusion of the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

...because that is where both teams expect/hope to be playing come April. It is also about halfway for both schools. ...but the opportunity to test out those sight lines behind the hoops at Lucas Oil will be good experience if they do make it to the Final Four.

Presumably the decision to play Baylor outside of Orlando may have some connection to both teams wanting the opportunity to play more of the other schools in Orlando while they're all down there in the bubble. I.e., both teams will now have the opportunity in Orlando to play one or more of the other teams in OntZag's "straight gauntlet non-con" schedule of Kansas/Kentucky/Duke/Michigan St./Rutgers. And because Baylor/Zags were already planning on playing each other, by playing that game elsewhere, this now affords them the opportunity to play more games in Orlando than they otherwise would. It's as good of a guess as any, I suppose...

We’re no 1 and now we get to slog thru a very difficult gauntlet. Let’s prove it. Great team and a superior schedule. Might be the toughest schedule we’ve seen in years. And without the flying and without tons of time zone changes. When ur in the bubble, you stay in the bubble as I understand it.

                  Exactly
“No team in the country has a better winning percentage against power conference teams since 2017 than Gonzaga... the Zags are playing above average teams in the best leagues in the country and winning 78% of the time.”

Pretty sure they're not putting a basketball court up on Lucas Oil for GU/Baylor in the middle of football season. Probably at the Pacers court or something.

Plus Baylor has no reason to go to Orlando.

Rutgers just pulled out of the Jimmy V.

The Baylor/Gonzaga game is being played in the Pacers arena. Not happy about the 10am PT tip time:

Baylor, Gonzaga Showdown Set for Dec. 5 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis

CBS Sports to broadcast matchup between national title hopefuls on CBS at 1 p.m. ET

INDIANAPOLIS (October 1, 2020) – Two of college basketball’s top teams entering the 2020-21 season, Gonzaga and Baylor will stage this year’s marquee non-conference tilt Dec. 5 at 1 p.m. ET at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis, perhaps offering a preview of what could come in Lucas Oil Stadium at the conclusion of the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

CBS Sports will broadcast and produce the game, which will mark the start of the Network’s 2020-21 NCAA basketball coverage on the CBS Television Network. Intersport, a sports marketing and media agency based in Chicago, will lead the event operations.

With the Circle City serving as the backdrop for the 2021 national championship, Indianapolis will bookend the college basketball season with one of the sport’s most highly anticipated contests. Gonzaga and Baylor enter the season widely considered the country’s top two programs, ranking No. 1 and No. 2 in CBSSports.com’s Top 25 and 1, respectively. Additionally, either Baylor or Gonzaga was the No. 1 ranked team in the AP poll for nine consecutive weeks (Gonzaga from Dec. 23 to Jan. 19; Baylor from Jan. 20 to Feb. 23) last season.

Gonzaga, a 31-win team last year, welcomes back an all-conference worthy nucleus of Corey Kispert, Joel Ayayi and Drew Timme and also adds three top-100 freshmen to its roster, headlined by top-10 prospect Jalen Suggs. Baylor, which won 26 games and recorded its best overall winning percentage in program history (.867) in 2019-20, returns its top three leading scorers in All-America candidate Jared Butler, Davion Mitchell and MaCio Teague, along with Naismith Defensive Player of the Year finalist Mark Vital.

The game will be played with no fans in attendance, part of a controlled environment in Indianapolis coordinated by Pacers Sports & Entertainment and Indiana Sports Corp. Organizers will work with the Marion County Health Department to implement appropriate COVID-19 protocols, as well, to help protect the health and safety all of players, coaches and staff.
