Default GU vs Tarleton State - Predictions/Thoughts/What you do hope to see

Lets be realistic... Palate cleanser after that wild week in Vegas. Texans of Tarleton State are on deck.

What are you hoping to see on Monday? Expecting to see? Thoughts? Predictions?

Less turnovers, stifling defense and alot of Hickman and Sallis.

Michigan best Tarleton 65-54, I am taking zags 94-56. A game for righting the ship, lots of minutes for Sallis and Hickman.

I want to see two things:

I want to see Hickman and/or Bolton spend more time as the primary offensive ball-handler. Nembhard is one of the better point guards in college basketball, but he shouldn’t have to carry the full weight of that position for 40 minutes per night. The best Zag teams have been teams where the point guard duties were shared between one All-American at point guard and an excellent second point guard. Think Williams-Goss/Perkins, Suggs/Nembhard, Pangos/Bell. That position is too physically and mentally demanding for one player to play it at the highest level for forty minutes. If Nembhard is not going to catch a few more minutes of rest on the bench, another player should at least allow him to slide over to the off-guard spot for a few plays at a time.

The bigs need to play smarter defense to stay out of foul trouble. Watson, in particular, needs to avoid picking up two cheap fouls as soon as he checks into a game.

    Zags win 97-54.
Gonzaga has defeated Baylor, Illinois, Virginia, Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, UCLA, Arizona, Creighton, Oklahoma, Florida State, Texas A&M, Oregon, Iowa, West Virginia, Auburn, USC, and Washington over just the past three seasons.

Did anyone know Tarleton is in the WAC? WTF? I know the WAC is whack, but I didn't know they were WAC. Looks like their one win is against Paul Quinn! Who is that?!?! And why are we playing this abomination?

Tarleton seems to be the most slowyest team in the galaxy. Their tempo is #353! (63 possessions/game). Meanwhile, their 3P% is 25% and their 2P% is 43%!!!

Oh, their FT% is 81, even though they are nearly the worst in the nation at even getting to the line. They are top 25 in getting opponents to turn over the ball, so they do have that going for them.

They don't shoot, they don't block, they don't rebound. Nor do they get to the line or take care of the ball.

What a weird constellation of statistics for this team. A bad team with some one trick pony thing going on (Stealers Wheel - Stuck in the Middle with you). Michigan only beat them by 11. We better do better than that.

You guys need to expand your win margins!

Curious as to why the game starts at 7 pm, and not 6 pm. Our cupcake ROOT games almost always start at 6 pm locally. Tarleton's game notes show that the game is also on ESPN+. So either they are just picking up the ROOT feed, or it's their own production with bottom feeder ESPN announcers (typical of an ESPN+ game). Find out tomorrow, I guess.

Will be nice to hear the 3 Amigos on the call again; I can only take so much of those ESPN clowns.

As always, no injuries. I want big minutes for Hickman and Sallis this game to continue development. Would like to see Perry and Gregg get run as well

Tarleton does not switch on ball screens. Their motto on ball screens is "I'd rather fight than switch."

More time for Hickman and Sallies but importantly, also for Perry. Our three bigs had foul trouble in the Duke game and revealed a vulnerability. Need to develop Kaden more as the season goes on. Plus, he is fun to watch!

I would like to see the following:
    (1) Stay healthy
    (2) Not turn the ball over 17 times
    (3) Not commit 24 personal fouls
    (4) Shoot better than 28.6% from beyond the arc
    (5) Shoot 80% from the free throw line
    (6) A good consistent all around game from Anton Watson

In North Texas, it's on Uverse, channels 697 & 1697...my eyes aren't sharp enough to discern the difference between regular cable and HD.
