Maybe. It’s a filthy business, this CBB.

Pitino was not the first dirty basketball coach at Louisville. Denny Crum had no rules or standards. His players were among the dumbest in all of college sports. Looking at his graduation rates alone, it’s highly unlikely his players were actually passing. From 1989-1998 only 27% of his players earned degrees. The average rate during this span was 44%. Like Pitino, Crum cheated on his wife. Unlike Pitino, Crum actually left his first wife for a much younger newscaster who suddenly was promoted through the ranks of the local media. Of course the local media which is in the back pocket of Louisville’s said nothing about the matter.
Ha ha. That article is hardly journalism, just an old fashioned grudge match between UK and UL. It does bring some nasty stuff to the light though.

Well I know of at least one towel chewing coach of Armenian descent who wasn't a fan of Lute (no stranger to controversy himself), but generally speaking he was very well liked.

What's the old saying, if you aren't cheating you aren't trying hard enough? Or maybe if there's no allegations of cheating made against you, means you aren't winning enough games?

I don’t wish Miller any ill will but I think he underachieved relative to the talent he acquired on a regular basis. That terrible early exit from the tournament with the Deandre Ayton team is a good example. He recruited well but, as for performance, the sum of the whole was less than its parts.

That's fair. The back to back Regional Final losses to Wisconsin were irritating. The Ayton/Trier team bowing out when they did was inexcusable.

Whatever else happened during his tenure, Miller put one of the bigger ass whoopings on the Dukies of K's illustrious career, so at least he has that going for him.

Noticed this comment from the Arizona boards with my emphasis:

Lloyd inherited excellent pieces from Miller but deserves credit for keeping those pieces, convincing the players to stay. because of that coming into the season he had opportunity to lay a foundation of success right out the gate, that’s becoming a huge advantage - Arizona was the blueprint for Gonzaga 25 years ago before Gonzaga became what Gonzaga is today
I thought that Duke was the blue print that GU tried emulate, not Arizona.

I hope we can reach our next level of jaded with a championship. Those blue blood fans have attained a level of dismissiveness that we can only dream of reaching right now.

I would love to see Tommy win the Pac-12 in his first year. I loved that beatdown he laid on Michigan. That Zag offense 2.0 was a beautiful thing to watch. I bet Miller would not have beat Michigan with this Arizona team.

This is what made me so mad. It was a team full of 2 and 3 star recruits executing our offense beautifully, and winning games with it. It's clear our coach-in-waiting was going to continue the Zag tradition. I hope Michaelson proves to be similarly effective.

I have ZERO worries about Brian Michaelson.

Even though I may watch a game or two of Arizona basketball my focus is on the Zags during the season. I will reserve my comments for Lloyd later when we hit the off-season. Arizona is the enemy (right now) and Zags need to get back on track for their next run.

    I echo this.

Look, it’s possible the program declines after Coach Few leaves. That’s just a reality. But B-Mike will give us as good of a chance to stay where we are as anybody. Still hoping that day isn’t especially close.

Are you implying a specific school by a lake?

Hurl won't last the season. Stanford would be my choice. Huskies will probably be the first to ask.
