After seeing them for the first time this year, Purdue looks solid. They have a guard/wing in Ivey that is skilled, very athletic and extremely fast. He plays fast but under control. Their main big is, well, very big. They have a couple of guys that can shoot it from deep, and one of them is a catch-and-shoot guy who needs virtually no space to get a good shot off. There second scorer in the paint is of the earth-bound but strong category, and really knows how to the throw his weight around to get open. I’d love to see a matchup with the Zags.

Villanova's a good team, so is Purdue. But I am confident we can take care of either one in March if we end up playing them. And Collin needs to score more than 12.

Both Nova and Purdue are obviously very good. For my money, I would rather face Nova, as they have no depth and absolutely no post presence. For most of the game Nova had all 5 guys outside the arc, passing it around the perimeter, setting high screens, or going one on one. They ran out of gas in the last 7-8 minutes, as shown by their poor free throw shooting down the stretch.

Purdue, OTOH, is well balanced, big, and deep. Ivey is really good, and their bigs are both talented. Their depth is the most scary thing about them for me, playing 9 guys and covering all the bases at each position.

Gonna be fun to watch as the season unfolds. I like our chances against either one of them.

OSU has been very disappointing so far. All the warm fuzzies from last year are gone instantly.

Beavs lose to drop to 1-4. Last 2 losses to Princeton and Samford.

UNC got schooled by Rick Barnes and Tennessee losing 89-72.
Tar Heels should fall out of the Top 25 and I just don’t see them climbing back into it.

Purdue frightens me. Zags have no answer for that kind of size; hope we don’t see them this season but if Zags don’t win it all I’d be happy for Matt Painter to lead the Boilermakers all the way. Anyone but Duke.

Watched Utah State come back to beat Oklahoma. A great game! Sooners had the momentum and a nice 6 point lead or so w about 4 minutes left then had three really bad possessions in a row to cough it up. Several quick trigger 3’s that missed and a couple bad TO’s. Porter Moser will have the Sooners in the Dance no doubt.

Colorado State looks like the early favorite in the Mountain West as they beat Creighton 95-81. David Roddy led the Rams with 36, Isaiah Stevens had 17 points and 11 assists.

Impossible for this Upstate New Yorker not to root for the senior laden St. Bonaventure squad currently leading Marquette 33-25 at the half, but I like Shaka Smart and Marquette too. Fun game but a lot of missed shots keeping me from calling it a good game.

Shaka whining because Bonny coach takes timeout to let his senior team bask in a championship and get bench in in blow out…starts screaming at other coach…..totally lost it

Then Shaka keeps his starters in and presses to make a 22 point game a 14 point game in final minutes……really?

Shaka tries a blow by in the handshake line but St Bonny coach while shaking hand grabs shoulder so Shaka could not get away from him …………

Shaka was acting like a punk. A 100 percent, flat out punk. What a jerk. At one time I liked the guy ... what a whiner.

Halftime at T-Mobile, AZ Cats came ready to play. Go Oumar! If AZ hangs on, this is a signature Quad 1 win for Tommy and his boys.
