Default GU vs Texas - Predictions/Thoughts/What you do hope to see

Zags are #1 in the USA... Longhorns are coming in ranked #5. Are the Zags going to show the world they deserve that ranking or is Texas going to come up to Spokane and shake things up?

What are you hoping to see Saturday night? Expecting to see? Thoughts? Predictions?

Have at it boys and girls!

    83-75 Texas. I hope I’m wrong but I don’t have a good feeling.

I agree with Zany. I don’t have a good feeling either. Our 3 point shooting or lack thereof will be exposed on Saturday. Timme and Nembhard need to play better than last night. We may lose on Saturday but I would rather lose on Saturday than in the tournament. Our slope will be steep - Texas and their veteran leadership will win and I hope like hell that I’m wrong. Trust me I love the Zags.

    Texas 85 - Gonzaga 74.

In March the result could very well be the opposite. Was not impressed by long stretches in the 1st half and the beginning of the 2nd half. Dixie State, the 300th best team in the USA cut the lead to 10 in the 2nd half.

A little surprised that ESPN has GU with an 80+% chance of winning so they obviously think I am dead wrong.

Texas has experienced guards that can shoot.

    Horns 81
    Zags 75

    79-72 Texas

Experienced guards, athletic bigs and lots of depth. While they have a lot of new pieces like the zags that they have to blend together, a lot easier to do that with such experienced players

I’ve never picked a visiting team to beat the Zags in the Kennel, but this Zags team does not look ready for a Final Four type of opponent.

    Texas wins 85-80.
Gonzaga has defeated Baylor, Illinois, Virginia, Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, UCLA, Arizona, Creighton, Oklahoma, Florida State, Texas A&M, Oregon, Iowa, West Virginia, Auburn, USC, and Washington over just the past three seasons.

Horns by 12. Beard is worth 5 pts; took 4 guys named Mo past Zags’ three future lotteries to NC game. Guards play poorly, Straw is held down, Chet shines.

Wow! Ya’ll are NOT confident!! Lol

Never seen a prediction thread start out quite this one-sided. Nothing wrong with it. They’re YOUR predictions. But just never seen that here before.

Hmmm hard to get a read on UT... Interesting item in their one game they had... they only out-rebounded Houston Baptist by 1 (32-31)... for comparison the Zags out did Dixie State by 9 (45-36). That being said, they lit HBU with a nearly 60% 3 pt shooting night. Perimeter D is going to be critical. They didn't get too crazy down in the paint. What they do have is a tremendous amount of experience. So it will be an interesting matchup.

Think the Zags win a squeaker... 84-80

I'm thinking that (hopefully) the Zags defense raises a few eyebrows on the national stage. And even with a substandard outing from 3 (by Zags standards), Zags win 87-63

I never post in the prediction threads. This one looks like trouble to me. Beard is going to pull out the TT playbook and basically foul the hell out of our guards on every single possession, and dare the refs to call a bunch of fouls. With as young as our guard core is (and I love Nembhard, but he got roughed up physically in the Baylor game) I don't see them quite ready to respond they way they will need to in order to play through the mauling that is about to happen to them. Its going to be an ugly foul fest and like most Beard games...you just can't call every hand check, push, grab, hold etc. That doesn't bode well for a young core. Now, if I'm wrong and the boys step up and fight through the wrestling match that will be a GREAT sign for the rest of the year.

This one does feel like it could go the other way - but it just seems like GU teams typically rise up to early season tough competition.

Hopefully their second half performance is more indicative of where they are at now and predicting Zags winners by the score of 87 to 83.

Concerned about what I'm seeing in the first three games. Turnovers, 3 point shooting, and in other areas. Team is young and has yet to truly jell.

    Hope I'm wrong, but Texas 79 - Gonzaga 71.
