2021-2022 Opponents’ Message Boards

More Duke
Duke's extended homestand against low major teams ends as the undefeated Blue Devils take a road trip to face its toughest tests of the young season. The first opponent is the marquee matchup of the non-conference season, the Gonzaga Bulldogs. In The Zags have emerged as one of the premier programs in the country, appearing in 6 straight Sweet 16s, including two National Title games. The best thing you could say about this Gonzaga team is that they are no longer playing for a marquee matchup.“No team in the country has a better winning percentage against power conference teams since 2017 than Gonzaga... the Zags are playing above average teams in the best leagues in the country and winning 78% of the time.”

This post I am not sure what they are criticizing the zags for in the Nat'l Championship game of 2017.
"I despise Gonzaga for the usual cliché, largely debunked reasons but also because I’ll never forgive them for completely cowering and laying down for the cheats in the 17 title game. Disgusting."
I am only asking what your interpretation of this is? I have never heard this criticism before. Laying down for the cheats means giving up? throwing the game?
