I thought he might be able to stick because he just knows how to play basketball and mesh with better teammates, but the summer league and preseason was pretty concerning when I could tune in. Don’t think he’s an NBA player. Hope he gets another chance.

Just don't get it. Joel for me is a great backup NBA player. Many things were also said about Casey Calvary. To this day Coach Mark Few cannot understand why Calvary was not drafted.....that there is a fundamental problem in scouting when you do not draft a kid like Joel who might have the greatest basketball IQ I have ever seen with a Zag, but didn't lack skill. He's only going to get better. If he hangs with it, I expect to Joel to be adorning a NBA uniform one day. Again, I don't think he's a star in the making, but he's the kind of guy I'd want on my team. If anything else to make my starters better.

I don’t think Ayayi coming back for another year would have helped him. He’ll start in the G league if he wants to and try to work his way into a 2 way situation and keep climbing from there. I am a little concerned it’s not going to happen, while I felt it probably would back in the summer. Don’t know if he moves the needle enough and has an NBA strength. Moving without the ball is nice but probably needs more.
