Pop insists on playing the scrambling defenses internationally

those haven't worked for decades in FIBA for the stars and stripes

I believe three former Gaels were starters in that game: Mills, Dellavedova, and Landale.
Gonzaga has defeated Baylor, Illinois, Virginia, Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, UCLA, Arizona, Creighton, Oklahoma, Florida State, Texas A&M, Oregon, Iowa, West Virginia, Auburn, USC, and Washington over just the past three seasons.

adjusted the D vs. Argentina, switching everything on the perimeter, very Zag like. We'll see if that works. Lillard ended up on Scola many times, that is not sustainable without doubling seems to me, and doubling vs. a team like Australia will get burned. we'll see what Pop does

Great read here on the state of defense in today's NBA, and it relates to this thread because many of Budenholzer's ideas on that end are what Pop is adjusting towards with this Team USA, and will sound familiar to Zag fans here on GUBoards

USA v Spain in an elimination game tonight at 9:40 pacific. We're favored by like 12.5, but I'm not so sure . . .

Pop making some key defensive adjustments, switching things up. 2nd half they mostly played it 2 ways: switched everything and forced the bounce 1v1 with no help so no open 3s but tough twos, or they looked to stick hard M2M digging over the top of screens and force the bounce no help so no open 3s...sound familiar? Spain didn't score a FG the 1st 5 minutes 2nd half from these adjustments. Good on Pop, it's not the D he had them playing just a couple of weeks ago. D glass the achilles heel but most D boards lead to great open floor looks so there's still some balance to that weakness.

on NBC, yep, all USA mens live games are only available on peacock. sucks. if you want to watch a replay, it's here https://stream.nbcolympics.com/baske...quarterfinal-2

That game was close.....US made a lot of threes and the passing was crisp.....but not much transition or inside scoring....

Watching KD.... is is fun remembering that back in around 2005 Gonzaga beat the pizz out of Barnes and Texas with KD .....took their foot of the gas at the end and Texas must have scored 15-20 after it was over...Pargo and Raivio torched them.....

94-78 US beats the Australia with good defense and 3 point shooting and advances to the Gold Medal Game.....what happened in Vegas....stayed in Vegas....
