Default GU vs Norfolk State - Predictions/Thoughts/What you do hope to see

Norfolk State was super hot... then cold... then average in their first match up. Will they keep up with the Zags or will they go cold and have the score get out of control?

What are you expecting to see on Saturday? Hoping to see? Thoughts? Predictions?

Zags 87-65. The Norfolk team played well in stretches. They were flat in stretches. A flat stretch against these Zags can turn a close game into a twenty point deficit.

    - staying with my no score prediction during playoffs.........but do expect we push lead up to around 30, see bench play last 3 minutes and win by 20 or more.

    - norfolk is a guard oriented team. 10 players see 12 minutes or more (7 of those between only 12 and 19 minutes). they only play 2 forwards, each stout in frame and around 6'8", but combined they only play 31 minutes a game.

    - i expect to see our superior guards race past norfolk guards, and our length to give them fits when norfolk is on offense.

they shoot the ball so poorly I believe we'll be up by 30, and then the backups will be expected to hold or improve, basically a WCC game not involving BYU or SF.

Norfolk scored 18 pts in the second half tonight. The Zags are much faster, much stronger and so much more balanced. I think they cover the early line 94-60

I hope the bench gets some quality minutes as we might just need them in later rounds.

Zags win comfortably but if you're betting, take Norfolk St and the points. No way they win by 34 because Few will take our foot off the gas.

Hope I eat crow but gut tells me this game will be a nail biter Zags pull out in final seconds. Combination of Norfolk State playing w house money w players who know this may be the biggest stage of their hoops careers and Zags starting slow due to rust then some nerves as they sense the enormity of the upset brewing. Norfolk State zone disrupts the beautiful game Zags prefer but fortunately CK knocks down some huge shots late to keep the dream alive.

Reminiscent of the classic tourney game when 16 seeded Princeton nearly upset #1 seed Georgetown and Alonzo Mourning:

You have got to be kidding. (Now I have doomed us).

I am not disrespectful of your opinion, I am not trying to be a jerk. But I don't see it happening with this team.

I am far more worried about Oklahoma deciding to pull out a Big-12 championship type of effort.

It seems that the experience with teams that have won a play-off game have already won what they came to do and are mostly satisfied. They don't even have much fight left in them (from years past it seems).

Yes, I suspect the Zags will have some rust, but I think that'll impact 3s and timing on offense. It will not impact "throw the ball to Timme and let him score." Or "Just shoot, hit the rim, let Ayayi get the ORB and put it back in.

    Zags: 90
    Norfolk: 68

Norfolk plays pretty tough D. They look more like football players than basketball.

Looking forward to seeing our first game in March Madness. Looking to see the beautiful Zag style of basketball displayed in front of the world. Hoping to see some excellent passing to show others what passing is all about. Also hoping to see our unselfsh play on offense and toughness on D. Hoping to have a lot of fun watching this one.

Don’t remind me. The network and refs stole that game from Princeton. Bleak moment in tourney history. Kit was fouled.

If I were a betting man, I’d take the points. Few will clear the bench at the first opportunity, to give as many players as possible experience.

But I’m not a betting man.
