Hey Kemo, is this what you were trying to post?

West Coast Conference Adopts Innovative Model to Seed the 2021 University Credit Union Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament
WCC has partnered with Ken Pomeroy to develop first-of-its-kind model

SAN MATEO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference and renowned college basketball statistical analyst Ken Pomeroy have collaborated in an innovative partnership to develop a comprehensive model that will be utilized to seed the 2021 University Credit Union West Coast Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament.

The WCC regularly conducts a 16-game unbalanced men’s basketball regular-season schedule and an 18-game double round-robin women’s basketball regular-season schedule, seeding the conference tournament based on conference winning percentage. With interruptions in the 2020-21 college basketball season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the WCC will not fully complete these conference schedules, leaving some disparity in the number of conference games completed among member programs. While the goal remains to reschedule postponed contests, those opportunities are limited with the regular-season schedule concluding on Feb. 27.

The WCC partnered with Ken Pomeroy to develop a model that uses a proprietary algorithm that best reflects conference games completed and yields an adjusted conference winning percentage for each men’s and women’s basketball team. The adjusted conference winning percentage accounts for the strength of the opponent and the location (home/away) of the game played. The offensive and defensive efficiency metric is not utilized in the algorithm to determine a team’s adjusted conference winning percentage.

With a focus on developing an evaluation tool that is the most accurate representation of conference regular season play, the WCC Presidents’ Council voted to adopt the Ken Pomeroy adjusted conference winning percentage model designed for the WCC. The Conference will utilize this model to seed the men’s and women’s basketball tournament.

“We have all experienced unprecedented challenges associated with conducting athletic competition throughout the past year and we continue to work to find the appropriate solutions to the challenges ahead of us,” West Coast Conference Commissioner Gloria Nevarez said. “The reality of not completing a full conference schedule is in front of us and we have explored alternative models to properly seed our men’s and women’s basketball tournament. The Ken Pomeroy adjusted conference winning percentage model that has been developed for the WCC provides the most accurate reflection of the conference games that have been completed. We appreciate the opportunity to lean on Ken’s well-regarded expertise and thoroughly analyzed algorithms to develop this model for seeding our conference tournament.”

Tuesday’s report is the first of five that will be delivered by the Conference. The WCC will provide an updated report each Friday and Sunday over the final two weeks of the regular season. The final report, which will be the seeds for the 2021 men’s and women’s conference tournaments, will be unveiled on Sunday, Feb. 28.

The University Credit Union West Coast Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament will be held March 4-9 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Thanks ZagDad for the posting. I didn't attempt that one, just wanted to put up the current standings. But it describes what the league is using for seeding purposes. For the Women, since most have or will play the full schedule; there may be little difference. On the Men's side; SMC could have a 'losing league' record and place as high as 4th. Crazy year.

San Francisco and Santa Clara both play BYU and San Diego this week. Portland plays LMU and Pepperdine. Pacific plays one more game.

Its possible SF and SC both lose both games that would make the 9-9. Likely Portland wins both games that would make them 9-8. Pacific likely to win their one game making them 9-9.

So we could have Portland at 9-8. Santa Clara, San Francisco, and Pacific could all end up being 9-9. So its still a big crap shoot who the #4 seed will be in the tournament. If it ends up this tangled mess no worries the new seeding system will sort it out for us.

Why did I post this you ask? Well the #1 seed IE Zags will face the winner of the #4 seed and the other team in that game.

If things go according to last year the Zags would play 12:00 on Monday 8 March 2021, and if they win that game likely to play 13:00 on Tuesday 9 March at 1:00 PM.

BYU would play the winner of the #3 seed San Diego and the team they play at 2:00 PM Monday 8 March 2021.

Times subject to change just based on last year.

So it will be interesting this week to see if either Santa Clara or San Francisco beats San Diego, then the long shot of one of them upsetting BYU.

Should be exciting week in the WCC WBB to determine #4 seed.

Good news for all WCC teams you all get to play at least one more game, and everybody has their shot to go further.

Breaking news WBB San Diego goes on 14 day pause due to Covid and will not play in the WCC tournament.

San Diego would have been the #3 seed.

Now Santa Clara, and San Francisco will both only play BYU this week.

Santa Clara, San Francisco, and Portland could all end up being 9-8. Pacific could end up being 9-9.

#3 and #4 seed are now in play for these four teams. New seeding system will sort this out.

Note MBB Portland canceled their game today also due to Covid-19.

Well even with a loss today BYU is #2 seed. San Francisco is #3 seed thanks to defeating BYU today and Santa Clara is #4 seed. Would expect Portland #5 seed, Pacific #6 seed, SMC #7 seed, LMU #8 seed, and Pepperdine #9 seed.

Well the #1 seed IE Zags will face the winner of the #4 seed Santa Clara and the other team in that game.

BYU #2 seed would play the winner of the #3 seed San Francisco and the other team in that game.

Was looking at big games for Lady Zags in March crunch time scoring 30 points or more. And I only came across two names that did it twice or more.

WCC Crunch championship game performances Jill Barta on 3/7/17 scored 37 points against SMC in 2017, and on 3/6/18 scored 32 points against San Diego in 2018 both games giving the Lady Zags the WCC Championship.

Kayla Standish on 3/3/12 scored 31 points in a victory at WCC Tournament against SMC, on 3/19/21 scored 30 points against Iowa, and on 3/21/11 scored 30 points against UCLA.

Thats right Kayla Standish scored 30 points in back to back games in the NCAA tournament in 2011. Remember both those victories very clearly.

Fond memories for sure, two great Lady Zags.

The odds are we face Santa Clara in our first game. But it would be great to face Portland and give them payback for last year.

Odds are San Francisco faces BYU. San Francisco beat them last game and are looking very impressive.

But once again I think the Zags have something to prove against BYU. Plus I don't just want to beat BYU I want to hammer then on the score board.

Bonus if we hammered BYU think it would gain us more respect in the polls also.

In addition some of our players who laid an egg against BYU last game, including CLF have something to prove.

Keep in mind of a couple of items.

    1. BYU is on the cusp of just making it into or just being left out of the NCAA tournament. Short of winning the tournament, BYU may need to make it to the championship game to have much of a chance of getting into the NCAA tournament depending on what other bubble teams do in their tournaments.

    2. WSU is shown as being one of the last teams to receive an at-large bid. If they do not win a game or two in the Pac-12 tournament, they put their projected at-large bid in grave danger.

If you are a Cougar fan (Butch not Cosmo) root for WSU to win at least a couple of games. If your rooting interests run closer to Cosmo and the WCC then BYU is going to have to cheer for their arch enemy (Utah) as it is the Utes who face WSU in the first round.

Thanks. Portland lives and dies with the press. Today we made them pay for it.
Andrews picking up her fourth foul in the third was huge because she had to sit.

Fowler was beating us up inside, but they had no outside shooting threat...so trading baskets was not getting them anywhere.

Khari Clark has been incredible for us down low, especially since our shot blocker Mandel is out with her injury. And then senior roommates Chels and Jas are stepping up, as seniors often do.

We’re having FUN...and that’s what this is all about.

LMU upsets Portland 74-56 very impressive. CG3 Dad now you must really be on cloud 9 back to back WCC Tournament wins, your team is on a roll congrats.

LMU did a great job circling the wagons for the WCC tournament.

#34 Clark 2nd terrific game in a row 10-14 FG 22 points. Back to back 20 point games.

    #3 Gipson 5-11 FG, 13 points.

    #20 Jones 6-10 FG, 13 points.

LMU really played with 7 players again, a eighth player got a couple of minutes off the bench at the end of the game.

Santa Clara verses LMU tomorrow 11:00 AM. Good luck CG3Dad.

SMC leads Pacific 41-22 at half time. Back door cuts whenever SMC wants them, along with wide open 3 pointers. SMC have a couple of bigs playing good #23 Codding coming back from injury, and#30 West SMC controlling the Glass. SMC looks hungry and for more aggressive team. Holland dishing out assists, Weddin hitting 3 pointers.

#5 Holland and #4 Wedin both on their game. But excellent support from bigs and excellent rebounding looks like LMU is not the only upsetted minded team today. This is not the same SMC that finished the season, they found a couple of bigs that are hitting the boards.

3rd quarter Pacific brought energy missing in first half. SMC up 50-36 at end of 3rd quarter. Can Pacific mount a 4th quarter comeback? Pacific had cut the lead to 7 points in 4th quarter.

4th quarter Pacific can't buy a 3 pointer, SMC getting timely 3s. Down to 5 minutes left SMC lead back up to 11 points. Well Pacific missed a ton of layups in this game. SMC is going to hang on for the victory.

Final score SMC 69-55 wins over Pacific. Codding and West played important big minutes. Holland ended with 17 points, Wedin 21 points.

San Francisco against SMC at 2:00 PM tomorrow.

A look into todays games. San Francisco hammered SMC both games earlier this season, and SF is a formidable opponent. Would say SF would be the safe pick to win today.

Santa Clara and LMU split their games this year. Santa Clara did give BYU a run for their money last time they played. SC last game of year with SD was canceled. So will SC come out rusty? Will LMU stay hot?

At his point would say its a crap shoot between these 2 teams. May come down to which team can avoid the bad single digit quarter. We know LMU can have big quarters. Should be a good game to follow, I know I'll be watching.

Santa Clara cruising end of 1st half 47-25 over LMU.

    #5 Wiehl going off 16 points, 7-8 FG, 2-3 on 3 pointers.
