I’d go for that. A tuneup before the real game.

I thought the same thing. Let's chalk it up to great minds thinking alike.

I think SMC is on pause, causing the Saturday cancellation, and LMU still might be able to play this week. I just want a game or 2 against someone.

This might clear up everyone's confusion....

Per Rothstein: Loyola Marymount will not play this week's scheduled games due to COVID protocols, per Stan Johnson. Lions were originally slated to play at Gonzaga and Saint Mary's.

Technically it's not officially cancelled. But Xavier has a positive test and canceled their other game this week. Seems inevitable.

No. 1 Gonzaga and No. 5 Houston were deep into negotiations to play a neutral-site game this weekend in Salt Lake City, a source tells CBS Sports, but it fell through this morning. Game will not be happening barring an 11th-hour change of heart. Teams are a combined 32-1.

The wording suggests a voluntary backing out. I wonder which party it was.

Could have been: TV rights conflicts, conferences, flight schedules, travel requirements around COVID, COVID protocols for WCC teams vs. AAC teams, lodging. . .neither coach would say yes if it put his team at a disadvantage.

                            Possibilities are endless.

I now predict Houston and Zags will be in same region of the bracket lined up for an Elite Eight matchup if both teams advance. Press can speculate all that week about which program suffered the 11th hour “change of heart” attack.
