Damn you Martin, look what you made me do! I kid, I kid.

If you haven't figured out I prefer female vocalists. Very much so. Can't help it.

Now I'm gonna get into really obscure stuff, but I dig it.

Their more recent stuff has gotten really mellow, but they started out a bit more rock.

Okay, how about a couple bands who blend traditional Celtic sounds w/ punk and/or rock influences? I've come to think that rock really isn't based on what instruments are played, it's how they are played.

Keep ‘em coming. I think this thread will inspire a great playlist for my driving commute.

I’ve got a few more from the early ‘oughts.

    How about some Velvet Revolver?

My favorite guitar player of the past thirty years is Tom Morello. He’s been turning out great work all through the past three decades.

My wife’s favorite song is Audioslave’s, Like a Stone.

Honestly, I'm not that adventurous enough when it comes to music. I try to hunt down great live versions of what I already know rather than branch out.

Some good stuff for me to go over, thx.
Spotify... it WILL pull you out of your comfort zone from time to time but will give you new stuff to listen to.

Now, most of this has been hard rocking stuff, but there is some great alt-rock out there as well.

Rock isn’t dead but it’s been dying since the 00s.

I posted this years ago, maybe in the old forum. Answer these questions.

What rock act (group or solo) defined the decade? Not your favorite, but the act that defined it.

    50s __________

    60s _____________

    70s ______________

    80s _______________

    90s. ______________

    00s. ______________

Depending on how you define rock, most people will have the same answer for the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. After that, no consensus.

    50s - Elvis

    60s - Beatles/ Jimi Hendrix

    70s - Springsteen, The Who

80s - The Police, Sting, U2 (Joshua Tree might actually be the best album not put out by the Beatles

90s - Nirvana (Smells like teen spirit, one song, one album, a bullet through the heart of every hair band ever)

    00s - Green Day/Blink 182

    10x- ????

I like these guys as the only 10s I've ever really heard of. He has the best male voice in a rock band I've ever heard, he could sing opera, dead serious, and it's called Save Rock n Roll

Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.

I had fun going down the rabbit hole looking up a bunch of songs. Made me nostalgic for the 90s though, some stuff that missed the cutoff date.

I'd forgotten about them. That's Weiland and Slash, right? Who would've ever thought Stone Temple Pilots and Guns 'N Roses would blend together?

I always got Blink-182 and Sum 41 mixed up back in the day.

I don't really listen to them, but Fallout Boy and Imagine Dragons I think have been fairly big rock bands in the last decade or so.

I don't think I know any of their other songs, but this one is kinda catchy.
