Default GU vs Virginia - Predictions/Thoughts/What you do hope to see

Another game against a ranked opponent. A clash of the one of the top offenses in the country against a perennial top 5 defense in the country. Grinder or will Zags run and pull away?

What are you expecting to see against UVA? Hoping to see? Thought? Predictions?

Zags struggle with TO and 3pt shooting. The low # of possessions and lack of fast breaks will be hard to overcome as well.

It's going to be Tom McCarthy and Bill Raftery on the call for CBS. I hope to see a better effort (defense-wise) from the Zags in the 2nd half (where games are won or lost). The Demons games were a learning experience.

Virginia is good, but they don't have Larry Owens!

we're not a 16 seed, so naturally our odds are less than those guys, but we still win.

Perennial top 1-3 defense of Tony Bennett’s defense vs Mark Few’s high flying no 2 Offense. If we shoot well we win. If we don’t we lose. A lot goes with a loss. This one is pretty even....Zags by 5 in a grinder.

Slower pace, poor 3pt shooting and an opponent that takes care of the ball and makes their FTs down the stretch leads to a close one but not enough possessions to take back the lead. Of course I hope I’m way wrong!

    I expect a grinder. . .

Defense wins championships and the Zags haven't shown they can play championship-level "D".

I hope to see a bit of coverage from the local media. It's not often the #1 team plays in your backyard.

DFW sports media is disappointing, with their overemphasis on the absolutely moribund and irrelevant Dallas Cowboys.

would expect Bennett to look to take away Zag transition baskets and running game, so Zags should have good opportunity to control their d glass and make it one and ones for UVA and then run when possible, BUT avoid overly aggressive turnovers when tryng to run because that's what Bennett will want, will want to frustrate the Zag transition game imo.

Then O execution will be key, converting open shots, aking FTs, and o boards with UVA not hyper aggressive looking to break so crash the o boards. we'll see

Nothing like back to back unfocused performances followed by the last nationally televised network game of the regular season against a ranked opponent (also the last such of the regular season???) to get Zags locked in and ready to bring their A+ game.

I get the fear over a tony bennett style but I will be very surprised if we lose this game. This is not the championship caliber Virginia team we have come to see. They just aren’t. The talent level between the zags and Virginia this year is a wide gap. If we execute at a level that we did every other game besides NW State, I see this being an easier win than ku and wvu
