    This is okay considering the circumstances. However I wanted Baylor. This pretty much eliminates that. Virginia contrary to belief, is barely a top 20 team this year. Zags shouldn’t have too much difficulty with this one. Shucks.

    Maybe we face Baylor in the final game of the season.

    As someone on Twitter pointed out, this game is being played right in Baylor's neck of the woods, relatively speaking. Christmas eve could be a possibility for the game.

    Zags have a game on the 28th, 21 and now 26... that’s too many games for a date on the 24.

    Oh I'm sure if they really wanted to work it the game could be squeezed in...just have to want it enough

    I would guess they are not allowed to, or are encouraged not to go home over the holidays anyway. As long as they're not playing on Christmas day, like the Big Ten this year, I dont have to much problem with it. I bet every player in that locker room would rather play Baylor and Virginia over Christmas break than sit in their apartments playing video games with each other.

    I see limited number of fans can attend, might allow for some parents to get to watch a game live this year.

    It is brand new --- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dickies_Arena

    I thought it was the home of TCU basketball, but I guess I was mistaken.

    we may have beat VA a few times way back,
    but it is my memory Tony Bennet has always beat us. Is that right?
    i would have rather had Baylor too, but maybe Barnes isnt pushing that hard for that match up anymore.
    our boys play back to back and every other day on Thur,Sat, in tournaments like Maui, and las vegas,
    i would ask the players if playing on the 24th would be too much,
    would certainly be a wonderful xmas present !

    Who's belief are you referencing? They were voted #17 by the slate of AP writers in the rankings this week. Seems about perfect for a team you describe.

    It is going to be hosting a NCAA tourney subregional in the future. That sure doesn't look like a 13,550 seat arena. It looks smaller than K2!

    Most view Virginia by name as a top level team this year. My eyes say they arent. USF knocked them off.. I would be SHOCKED if we lost to them. Iowa is a toss up. This isnt.

    - i like the idea of playing a ranked team from the acc...........instead of a third ranked team from the big 12.
    - lets show the world we can play with any of the big conference teams this year.

    From Katz (Andy says the GU/Baylor game has likely been cancelled)

    https://twitter.com/TheAndyKatz/stat...95115111665670

    Gonzaga-Virginia announced for Dec. 26 in Fort Worth. Once
    @BaylorMBB
    -
    @ZagMBB
    canceled (unlikely rescheduled when Bears went on pause and had to reschedule
    @TexasMBB
    game),
    @UVAMensHoops
    was next up for Zags for a
    @CBSSports
    broadcast. This game replaces lost Cavs
    @NovaMBB
    game.

    Cant forget Virginia is still the reigning national champs. Knock them off early on the way to GU's first championship.

    Also good that it is broadcast on CBS. maximum exposure with lots of eyeballs on 12/26. UVA’s defense may not be as elite as it was last season but they are definitely going to challenge us. I doubt we score in the 80’s.

    The question is whether UVA can score in the 70’s on us. Score of the game they lost to USF was 61-60
