Whatever alternative universe these supposedly responsible college administrators are living in I want no part of.

I've been saying it for a while, but it's going to be a horror show for both the women's and the men's leagues, as much as I wish it weren't true. There's so much more coronavirus out there than last March. Forty-nine states are reporting uncontrolled spread (Hawaii is the exception, and they have a big moat for protection). With teams and entire leagues dropping out already, I'm with ya, upan.

Pandemic leaves opening week of college hoops in disarray
    AP Published 5:56 p.m. ET Nov. 24, 2020

Wichita State MBB landed in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Monday afternoon, masked up and looking forward to tipping off the season in the Big Bad Mower Crossover Classic.

A few hours later, the Shockers announced they were out of the tournament after multiple positive COVID-19 tests. Event organizers said the tests came from two players who were re-tested before the final decision was made.

Eight months after the coronavirus shut down college basketball at tournament time, the sport returns this week with dozens of teams opening their seasons as early as Wednesday and the pandemic still raging. It has already forced cancellations and postponements across the country, leading to a chaotic scramble to schedule opponents willing to drop everything to play.

I didn't realize Wichita St. had 2 players left. Thought everyone bailed in the off-season.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Oklahoma Sooners women’s basketball team will not be heading to Sioux Falls this weekend.

OU announced on Twitter the women’s basketball team will not play in the Bad Boy Mowers Crossover Classic Saturday through Monday at the Sanford Pentagon.

The Sooners said the team cannot meet the player availability threshold for the tournament because of COVID-19 tracing. No replacement team has been announced.

Gonzaga was slated to play Oklahoma Saturday. Now we see if tournament organizers can manage to find a last minute replacement.

Just a reminder the biggest opponent for all WCC WBB teams is Covid. Three WCC WBB teams have none been able to play their first game yet because of Covid, they being Pepperdine, Pacific, and Santa Clara (All games Cancelled thus far).

In addition WBB WCC San Francisco, Gonzaga and BYU have had single games canceled also.

Every time WBB WCC teams get to play the next game it is a victory in itself.
