    Default Women's College Basketball's Way-Too-Early Top 25:

With no games played to date and simply based on last year's finish and this year's projections, here is ESPN's way to early Top-25 and yes the Lady Zags are ranked but maybe not where you might think (or expect).

Women's college basketball's Way-Too-Early Top 25: South Carolina still on top, Baylor rising

If we're going to have a college basketball season, we are going to need rankings.

The NCAA announced that the 2020-21 women's college basketball season will begin Nov. 25. Now, conferences are sorting out what a delayed start and 27-game limit will mean for scheduling and how to move forward with the NCAA's health and safety guidelines.

But if we still don't know everything about how the season will work, we know it's on. And since six months have passed since any games were played, it's worth taking stock of a college basketball landscape that no longer includes names such as Chennedy Carter, Lauren Cox and Sabrina Ionescu (not to mention Muffet McGraw) but still features the likes of Dana Evans, Rhyne Howard, Aari McDonald and Michaela Onyenwere.

We'll do this again before the first game finally tips, but's Charlie Creme, Graham Hays and Mechelle Voepel cast their votes to determine our rankings.
Where are the Lady Zags ranked?

You going to have to click the link:

As expected, the P-5 conference teams (+ UConn) dominate the rankings with the first mid-major (sort of - Big East) is Depaul who is ranked at #19. Missouri State follows at #22 and for some reason ESPN has dropped the Lady Zags two positions down to #24.

    Thanks ZD...

I think the key words are “way too early”. While we know that with what GU has for starters returning and that the bench will have a number of players with a lot of game time experience plus a number of talented players looking for time, it appears the top 25 was by name recognition.

There are advantages to starting lower and having lesser teams above... it’s like NASCAR... it’s more fun passing than being passed. You can also use it to put a chip on the shoulders of the team. If you are good... they will notice.

Just hoping for a preseason to show our stuff...

    Go Zags!!
