Sloot is up to 17 pts and 8 assists midway thru Q3, Sky up comfortably. She's 6-7 from the floor and 2-2 behind the arc. I think she went over 200 assist for the season, and w/ 1 regular season game and at least 1 playoff game to go, she should get to 1900 for her career.

    Phoenix and Connecticut in OT.

Jeez, 17 point lead has been trimmed to 4. The Sky just can't get out of their own way lately. Sloot w/ 20 on 7-9 shooting, 9 assists 6 reb. only 1 TO.

      Phoenix won in OT.

Chicago has given up a 10-0 run late in the game and are about to lose to the lowly Dream. The Sky couldn't possibly be any more dead in the water than they are currently. 1 more regular season loss and a quick bow out in the playoffs, then they can all leave the wubble.

And it's over. Sky was up by 17 early in Q3 but lost to Atlanta 97-89. Almost gave up 100 again, to another bad team. They are done. Wasted performance by Sloot, 22 pts. 7-10 from the floor 11 assists 7 reb.

While you can argue that Quigley was only 1-6 and Dolson was 0-3 from 3 and as a team, Chicago only scored 34 points in the 2nd half, the truth is when you score 89 points, you should win the game. It really is that simple.

Big problem was the front court of the Dream scored 61 of the 97 points scored by Dream. No defense inside tonight for the Sky. Without Stevens and DeShields, the Sky are shorthanded and apparently defenseless inside.

Will spend very little time in the playoffs with this kind of effort.

Sloot is now averaging 9.9 apg, 10.0 is doable. With only 21 games played, this is the 4th highest total for a season for her. She could reach the 218 she had in 2017. Pretty amazing. She's also just barely off the 50/40/90 line, although probably won't get there. Currently 48.8/40.5/89.1, not bad. Career high 13.6 ppg.

Seattle survived a shootout w/ Dallas 107-95. Ogunbowale was leading all scorers at the half w/ 15, but they disappeared her in the 2nd half. Scoreless the last 20 minutes. I'm assuming that was mostly Alysha Clark. Sabally had herself a game, 25 points on 9-14 shooting and 7 rebounds. Balanced scoring for the Storm, Stewie and Loyd both had 23 w/ quite a few other contributors. Did Bird get hurt again? Something happened late in the game but I haven't heard any kind of confirmation or update.

Yes. Bird attempted a steal from Sabally, they hit heads and both went down and Bird immediately grabbed her knee. Bird hobbled off the court and never did come back in.

Seattle has a couple of big games to finish out the season against Phoenix and Las Vegas. The Storm have clinched the double bye with tonight's victory due to holding the tiebreaker over Los Angeles. The regular season championship is still up in the air with only 1 game separating Seattle and Las Vegas. Vegas won the first game with the Storm, so the Storm may have to win out to win the regular season.

After last night's game, Sloot is now #2 in scoring for the Chicago Sky franchise, just behind her wife Allie Quigley.

For those interested in the WNBA play-off seeding, byes, etc. here is a summary from ESPN.

WNBA playoffs 2020 scenarios: Seeds, byes and what's at stake
                      Mechelle Voepel
                      ESPN.com

With four days left in the WNBA regular season, we know seven of the eight playoff teams. Exactly what seeding each team will end up with is still uncertain.

The No. 1 seed might not be decided until Sunday. The regular season was originally scheduled to end Saturday, but the six games that were postponed as players sat out on Aug. 26-27 in protest of the Jacob Blake shooting in Wisconsin had to be rescheduled. Three of them were moved to Sunday, including a game that could be a preview of the WNBA Finals: the Seattle Storm vs. the Las Vegas Aces (ABC, 3 p.m. ET).

                      Seattle Storm (17-3)
The Storm clinched a bye into the semifinals with their 107-95 victory over the Wings on Wednesday. Las Vegas is the only team that could take the No. 1 seed from Seattle -- if the Aces win their last three games, they would have the tiebreaker against the Storm.

But Seattle is in the driver's seat: If the Storm win their last two games, against Phoenix and Las Vegas, they will be the No. 1 seed. Even if they lost both games, they can't fall out of the top two because they have a tiebreaker against Los Angeles, should the Sparks tie them.

Seattle's concern is point guard Sue Bird, who has been dealing with knee trouble all season that has limited her to 11 of the Storm's 20 games. She and Dallas rookie forward Satou Sabally collided on Wednesday and Bird appeared to injure her knee again. Storm coach Gary Kloppenburg said after the game that he didn't know how serious it was. The Storm could rest her the last two games, and then Seattle wouldn't play again until the semifinals begin Sept. 20.

                      Chicago Sky (11-10)
The Sky and the Sun will be in the No. 6 vs. No. 7 first-round game. Since there is no home-court advantage this postseason in the bubble, it makes little difference which seed they earn. But Chicago, which finishes against Dallas on Friday, hopes to salvage something positive to take into the playoffs after a difficult end to the regular season. The Sky have lost four in a row and six of their past seven. They have not beaten a team that's going to be in the playoffs since Aug. 18 when they edged the Aces 84-82. The loss of Diamond DeShields and Azurá Stevens has hurt Chicago, which split its two regular-season games with the Sun.

Las Vegas ran away from Minnesota in the 2nd half, Lynx now tied for 4th w/ Phoenix. LA managed to lose to maybe suddenly potent Washington (?), I think that all but guarantees Seattle and LV are top 2 and get double byes. Bird (knee) and Stewart (foot) are questionable for their next game. Seattle can probably afford to just concede their 2 remaining regular season games. In a "compelling" match up of the 2 teams with the worst records in the league, Indiana got the "somebody had to win" trophy against New York.

Sky win their finale. They blew an 8 point lead in the 4th quarter, but then went on a run of their own to beat Dallas 95-88. Sloot had 15 points and 12 assists, that bumps her up to an average of 10 apg. 219 for the season is her third highest seasonal output, with 12 less games than normal. That's pretty amazing. She could've been pushing 350 in a 34 game season. Parker had 23 and Hebard 22. They overcame Ogunbowale's 38 points.

Sloot was on a tear the finish the season, 79 assists in the last 6 games. A whole bunch of players had less than 79 total for the season.

Great season by Sloot but I’m going to pick nits here. If she had 219 assists in 22 games, that leaves her assist total at 9.9545 assists per game. Statistically you round up. I get that. But if the question is, did she average 10 per game, I’d say no, she fell one assist short.
Sort of like a hitter in baseball who’s batting average is .3997. Did that person hit 400 for the season? A statistician would say yes, a player would say no.
                            Birds aren’t real.

Seattle is putting the mother of all beatdowns on Phoenix, and that is without Stewie and Bird. Up 62-26 midway thru Q3. I guess Phoenix really didn't want that first round bye in the playoffs, they're about to hand it to Minnesota.
