Number 15 is a little better. There are several notable players. I think it will be interesting to see what criteria we all use to select the best of the group. Let's nominate!
Rem Bakamus
Brandon Clarke
John Rillie
Matty B

Man... first name that popped into my head was Matty B. But forgot BC was 15... really really tough call. Can we call it a tie?![]()
Willie moss also pretty decent back in the day from what I’ve read.
Also for the oldies, this photo of the 1976-77 team looks pretty cool. Standing right next to Willie is Reed Schifferman. One of the best dunkers in GU history

Oh MAN. That's tough.
I think I am going to lean 51% for the Bouldergeist, and 49% Clarke.
Allow myself to introduce....myself...
Recency bias led me to vote for BC. He was an absolute monster last year! Insanely dominant in his lone season.
No disrespect intended to the other candidates. Bouldin is one of the all-time Zags in my book.
I voted for John Rillie

I love Matty B but Clarke got my vote. I've been watching old games and Matt had SKILLS! So good. But Clarke is like a machine.
Clarke sure was. Easily one of the most explosive, efficient, exciting zags to EVER put on the zags uniform. I only went with Matty by the SLIGHTEST of margins because of all he had invested in this program. Nearly 140 games vs 37.
It brings up some really interesting questions. I was wrestling with one in particular in my own head- Which zag meant more to this program? So many different ways to look at it.
And there's definitely not an incorrect option here. Every zag mentioned played an absolutely massive role while they were here.

Friar Zag and Mad Man, thanks for your contributions from history very few of us knew about.
I went with the whole body of work vs. one great year. During the years Matt Bouldin played he was a major figure in our whole team's ability to get to the Dance, and sometimes move on. We had a strong team when Brandon played and he made it much stronger. However, Bouldin helped us be a strong team during some of those years that were really tough for us, esp. getting washed out in the first game of the Dance in 07, 08 if I remember correctly. He helped us with a couple of sweet 16's, I think, when we really needed it because the whole nation wanted to treat us as a fluke getting by purely on the basis of playing in a weak conference.
Overall importance to the zag program in history: Bouldin
Best talent to ever play with that number in a single season: Brandon
My pleasure...these threads inspired me to finally make my first post on this board. It only took 8 years since I created the account! The truth is I’ve been a lurker and religious reader since the Zagshoops.com days
