Best Zag by the Numbers - Let’s Start with 0

It is a lot of fun to go through this and debate the merits of players at each number.

The best GU does is Adam Morrison getting an honorable mention at #3 behind Douggy McBuckets. Adam does join other notable honorable mentions Michael Jordon (behind Pistol Pete) and Larry Bird (second to a Lew Alcindor).

So I thought it would be fun to do the same for Zag players.

Let’s start with 0 and we will throw 00 in the mix. Who is the best? Name a top one.

Not many could defend Dellavadova. He was NBA good

That was more the nature of their pick and roll. He was as good at defending Dellavadova as the guard assigned to him.

0 has to be Silas Melson IMHO.
Has his redshirt pulled after Perkins' injury, and coolly comes in to MSG and drills his first shot.
He was a great on ball defender thru out his 4 year career, and a crucial player in our 2017 run to the NC game.

37 if you count 0 and 00 separately.

Rob for sure. Loved Geno and Silas. Spangler didn't stay long enough to count imo. He was one of my favorites while he was here.

Rob and then Silas. I like Geno, but he was mediocre at best. If Geno had an impact closer to Gilder or Woolridge during his season, then they would would’ve gone deeper and perhaps one it all. One of the biggest improvements from the previous season to this past year was undoubtedly guard play.
