    Default Making Room for AN

One little question: Does AN get our 14th scholarship for this year, or does one of the scholarships shown on ZagNative's chart get replaced by AN's? See post #167:

I have to believe this has already been decided, but haven't seen any indication as to how the matter is to be resolved.

I'm pretty sure that Lang was only awarded a scholarship for the one season.

All basketball scholarships are one year at a time. They all have to renewed from one year to the next. When they have one left over they usually give it to a walk-on.

Cook is a grad transfer, he does not have to be approved. He has already graduated from Southern Illinois.

Saint Mary's got one pending, but he's a BIG one.

    Matthew Van Komen
    7-4, 240, C, Fr., Utah – SAINT MARY’S
    It's not funny.

zags were following him in high school...didn't quite develop but bigs like him can take a while. if smc can work on him, could become a problem as a rs jr/sr.

Was Van Komen the guy who could dunk without jumping?

Harvard transfer Danilo Djuricic tells me that he's receiving interest from the following schools:

    Gonzaga
    Vanderbilt
    Santa Clara
    Wake Forest
    Cal State Bakersfield

Probably the only Gonzaga fan in Ireland!

Danilo was an important part of the 2017 Canadian World U18 championship team (1st place).

While Rowan Barrett was the MVP (scored 38 points in the semi-final beating a relatively weak USA team) , Danilo played power forward for the team that also featured Nate Darling, Noah Kirkwood, Lindell Wigginton and Abu Kigab.

Interestingly, he played against Former Zags Rui Hachimura in the round robin phase (scoring 21 points) and Killian Tillie in the quarter Finals.

He is best known for his shooting from the deep and I was surprised he never really starred at Harvard.

Because of that I don't think he would really make much of an impact for the Zags (he was, at best, 6th man at Harvard).

Perhaps the Zags might see his long range shooting prowess and experience beneficial...

Djuricic was a guy I really liked coming out of HS and was a little surprised he hasn't excelled more than he has. That said, Harvard did have him playing out of position at the 5 a lot & had some other good 4's so his undwerwhelming #'s are partly explainable.

With the extra year of eligibility though, he could be a very solid add. High chracater kid who would be 22 next season and 23 the following year to give some veteran maturity. Good floor spacer and just solid all around player. If he's looking more for an opportunity to win a national championship as a glue guy it could be a very nice fit. He's also been teammates with Nembhard before too.

Another interesting Canadian name to note too is Addison Patterson who has also played with Andrew on Team Canada before. Was a borderline 5 star talent who just left Oregon kind of unexpectedly. His frosh numbers don't jump out at you but he had started to play much better down the stretch and Ducks fans seem pretty bummed that he left. His reasons for leaving are kind of unknown but it doesn't sound like it was a minutes concern issue. If the staff isn't feeling too confident on the Sallis sweepstakes he may well be a better alternative than any other kid in Hunter's class.

His offense is a little rough around the edges but he has the athleticism to potentially play in the league. Certainly worth exploring.
