Iowa is a Top 5 team in the preseason rankings I’ve seen while Texas Tech is in the 15-20 range. That plus playing vs Luka Garza, arguably the best returning senior in college hoops and a mountain of a man, makes it a much much better game imo.
Agree w you that TTech will likely rise in the polls but for now as an early season game I prefer seeing Zags vs Iowa. Game will garner a lot more hype as two Top 5 teams than TTech game would. It will also give us a good early gauge as to how much trust and confidence Ballo has earned from Few and staff. Nobody else on the roster can come close to matching up 1v1 on Garza.

Zakharov is a physical specimen too, can outleap Garza, and if he can play good "D" he could battle him 1 vs 1, may not be as strong as Ballo but the young man has the tools.... everyone forgets about him. Don't know anything about his development but he's got the body and banging with Ballo in practice has to make you a man in the post.
Just my opinion.
Go!! Zags!!!
"Learn from the past, Plan for the future, Live in the Now!"
Seem to remember the Hawkeye fans talking a lot of smack before the Zags gave them a beatdown in the Tourney.

Same event, different source and some more details:San Francisco will play LSU and be a part of Elevate Hoops' (

San Francisco has joined the Nebraska event alongside Nebraska, LSU, Cleveland State, Illinois State, Oklahoma State, Nevada + Northern Iowa, sources told CBS Sports. At least four schools, including at least one more from a power conference, are heavily involved at this stage.

Probably the only Gonzaga fan in Ireland!
Good work USF. Hope some of the other WCC teams are scheduling tough too.

Pac-12 Preseason Preview

https://twitter.com/petethamel/statu...892478466?s=21Gonzaga’s basketball game with Washington will not be played this season. It was scheduled for Dec. 12 and Gonzaga decided to move on when the PAC-12 postponed to Jan. 1 without consulting Washington. Washington tried to work with Gonzaga. They were unwilling.

Highly placed spies in Alabama have relayed word that Jamal Johnson has been the early preseason surprise for Auburn. Could start at SG alongside Sharife Cooper.

Do not sleep on BYU. They might be the toughest opponent for the Zags till the tourney. They are even deeper than the Zags. Maybe not as much pure talent but they look like they can now score and defend at every position. With the addition of Averette and a now healthy Wade, they have shored up the their weakest area. Haarms in now hitting the 3 and his form looks good. They did a full broadcast of one of their first practices so take a look and judge for yourself.
Remember this is only after a few days of practice. Go to BYU TV and check out sports and check out full practice. The link I posted did not load correctly so it is better to go to BYU TV directly.
Speaking of BYU being strong this year, here is a great article that provides the link to view the practice. https://www.si.com/college/byu/news/...tball-practice
Pepperdine's Colby Ross makes the list. He definitely has had success against the Zags.
I guess Gonzaga's balanced scoring may make it tough for Jalen Suggs to be recognized.

Andy is faking being unbiased. Suggs deserves on the list, so does Joel. Gillespie is my #1, Kihei #2. But best part is the crying Northwestern fan, evoking memories of a great win against the Koach empire, half the press corps in the US, and Elaine Benes en famille. Love it.
Good addition for San Diego and the WCC.
