Wasn't sure if I should post this here, or in the 2020/21 WCC Schedule thread, so here it is. I did not see it posted previously.

It will be a great day. WCC going for 4-0 and we also get to watch Liam Lloyd
Probably the only Gonzaga fan in Ireland!

CaliZag - I completely 100% agree with you on Mark Pope. BYU looks to me to have a really good team in 2020/2021 after losing a ton (Childs/Haws/Toolson). They've added Lohner/Haarms/George and others. In prior years, this would be a transition or a down year for them - they have reloaded much like Gonzaga does every year.

I really, like the rest of you, hate we didn't have a tournament this year as I really felt - depending on match-ups BYU could have reached the S16 and maybe E8...I am glad we didn't play them again in the WCC Final...

Pope was the main reason they did so well last year...he was able to convince them to play "D"...last year was their year as it was ours too...IMO

Pope will do well in that environment and think he will stay for years to come...great for GU and the WCC...the better they are the better we become...

That makes 2 Neutral events that will feature both Gonzaga and BYU. One in Phoenix (Gonzaga vs TT, BYU vs ASU) and one in Portland (Gonzaga vs USC, BYU vs Oregon). That makes potentially 5 events that we will be interacting with BYU fans: These 2 events, the in season H-H, and the WCC tournament. Luckily I've only had positive experiences with their fans.

Pope in this offseason brought in Matt Haarms from Purdue, Caleb Lohner from Utah, and now Brandon Averette from UVU (previously Oklahoma State). They also have a couple of decent looking recruits coming in as well. BYU may not actually be taking a step back at all.

CaliZag - I completely agree with you. I thought after losing Childs, Haws, and Toolson they would have a down year but I don't think they will. Don't get me wrong if our guys return there is still a large gap between Gonzaga and BYU but BYU will be better than people think.

Brandon Averette -- it is good to see BYU getting some solid contributors-- only going to help the WCC.

Pons back for Tennessee. This is the game I'm looking forward to the most this year... at least until the final four.

Such a short and underachiving college career. The injury and Arizona bug bit him. So many of these kids could have thrived in the great environment that Gonzaga provides!!

Deeply entrenched confidants on the West Coast believe Loyola Marymount is a bonafide WCC sleeper. Lions have a star in Eli Scott and sneaky experience. Year One under Stan Johnson.

BYU seems to have reloaded, i wish that was reflected in the pre-season polls.
it won't matter if they get into the top 25 shortly after the season starts.
we need good WCC teams to play against for all the right reasons.

By the way I checked on some of our peers finishing in the top 25 for the last 17 seasons:

    GU 11 times
    Butler 9 times
    Creighton 5 times
