Default Zags plummet all the way down to #3 KenPom, #3 NET

And btw, Annie was right when she sang her iconic song ....

"The sun will come out tomorrow .... bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow, there'll be sun"

"Just thinking about ... tomorrow. Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow ... till there's none"

    "To be continued ....."

    Exactly.

We will still be a #1 seed in the west. All this game did was provide a teachable moment to this team. We will be better for it.

    So true.

I notice as the season progresses in the WCC, we seem to loose our edge and a game like last night wakes us up.

On to bigger and better things!

    Love my Zags.

Helps more that SDSU and Baylor also lost or I don't think we get a #1 seed in the west. Need to take care of business against SMC.

So as of today who do you put 1 in west and east then?

Just don’t see the middle teams jumping us just yet too many bad losses by them to suddenly jump us

As a fan, the WCC is bad for the health. This year is different, thankfully, because there are two other tournament teams. The loss is much easier to stomach because it was not to an NIT-bound BYU team this time. The announcers mentioned last night that the people in Spokane expect a win every game and that he liked the winning culture. Sadly, the Zags have to be perfect or near perfect every year. It weighs heavy enough on me as a fan and I can only imagine what it is like for the coaches and players. That was a tough environment last night (maybe chicken wire around the court would help, a la the Rawhide bar scene in the Blues Brothers); it is always “spirited” there but last night was off the charts. This loss won’t be terrible. After working myself through the somewhat pathological, but often realistic, need to win every game, I was still left this morning with a visceral dislike of what went down last night. The stars were aligned for BYU and it made it harder when the stripes were as well. The missed flagrant call aside, the physical play they allowed was just different (as an aside, I’m still waiting for a single foul call on Hawes— maybe they will find it within themselves to call one on him in the tournament.

The defensive game plan, or at least the execution there of, will need to be different against Childs next time. I thought that this was the biggest X’ and O’s thing that could make a difference if the Zags are shooting poorly again.

I know that it’s good to have a short memory in sports, but I hope this team remembers how physical things can get and figure out a way to play through it. They will need it the rest of the way.

Maybe they will call a foul on Hawes in the WCC tournament

This is the truth. If ever there was a time to track an L, this was it.

I’m just disappointed by the program as a whole - between the Haws elbow, students throwing trash on the floor, and Pope’s behavior with a commanding lead... the whole thing left a bad taste.

That said, they have some fantastic players. I’d love to see more of Baxter and the dude with the mustache (forget his name).

That person is an imposter. Minshew is too cool for that haircut. To use the parlance of our times, Minshew is woke and Seljaas is basic.

Can’t remember ever seeing the mullet and porn stache work so well together. Kid can play a little basketball too, might root for him if not for the BYU affiliation.

JP, your "chicken wire" comment made me laugh out loud, for more than a few seconds!!

With your permission, I may just steal that a time or two down the road.

Agree with you...GU lost a Q1 game on the ROAD while Baylor lost at home to a Q1 and SDSU lost at home to a Q3

    KU - MW
    Baylor - South
    GU - West
Dayton/Maryland - East (I think Dayton is more deserving)

    On Selection Sunday

    KU/Baylor - MW*
    Baylor/KU - South*
    GU - West**
B10/ACC Tournament Champion or Dayton - East

    * depending on which one wins B12 Tournament
** as long as we don't lose another game in league or WCC Tournament...if we lose one more then we are a #2 Seed in the West...

This is a pretty good snapshot of the Zags’ profile with one week of regular season games left.

    Thanks MCMM.

Here's that big bracket matrix with 99 different projections on it.

Hope the Zags don't get that 4 seed one guy predicts.
