GU vs San Francisco (Home Edition) - Predictions/Thoughts/What you do hope to see
USF coach was upset after the game because his big man, Jimbo Lull, only played about twelve minutes because of foul trouble. He even went so far as to say that the Zags had nobody that could guard him and the game may have had a different outcome if he had played more minutes. Look for the Dons to try to play a bit through Lull early. Watch for Ayayi, Woolridge and Gilder to dig down as soon as Lull catches. Not necessarily a double team, just something to disrupt a dribble.
The game in San Francisco was played a little off kilter by the Zags. Tillie was out because he sprained his ankle two days prior. Only one day of prep to adjust to his absence. Perhaps the fifteen turnovers resulted from forcing other players to be a bigger part of the game plan with little to no preparation time. Tillie is just as valuable on defense as he is on offense. His ability to switch onto smaller players is a big advantage for his team. Giving up 79 points in San Francisco was a direct result of Killian being MIA.
Timme had a breakout game against USF, taking advantage of Tillie's absence so in the long run the extra minutes and responsibility for Drew in that game will bode well as the Zags hit the stretch run.
I'm confident Tillie will play in this one. Finally the Zags may be at full strength. I would love to see the special ballet they are capable of. Just win this one and roll into Salt Lake like the Big Dogs that they are.
Yes! Jimbo is certainly a big boy. I hope he tries to bully the Zags tonight, because he's going to end up on the bench again. He is big, but NOT quick enough to guard Petro. That's how he got into foul trouble so early. He wanted to dominate Petro so badly, but doesn't know how to guard someone with the finesse of Petro's game. I am hoping to see big Jimbo on the bench again, and his coach screaming at the refs.
