It's Game Day, the best day of the week. Feb 6, 2020

Good morning Zag Nation. It's time to wake up and get ready for another fun night with the Zags. We're playing LMU tonight. I was thinking about Zag Nation last night before I fell asleep, and I couldn't help thinking about how big and powerful we are. AND HOW AWESOME. Because I wear something with the Name Gonzaga on it almost every day, I run into a lot of Zag fans. And every one of them that I meet is so nice, and in my opinion so cool. I have had the pleasure of having coffee several times with Go Zags here in Yakima, and what a cool, awesome man he is. We really are like brothers. When I was in physical therapy a year ago, my physical therapist was a GU grad, and we instantly were like brother and sister. Once in awhile I'll go and watch a game in a bar & grill and find brothers and sisters there every time. We really are pretty much like a family.

On game day I really do feel connected to this very large family who are spread out all over the world. I like that feeling of connection and power, and I am aware that this power is really like "wind beneath the wings" of the Zags as they fly down court. AND I believe they feel it. I was so impressed by the number of Zag fans at the Santa Clara and USF games. The announcer at the USF said that 40% of the fans were Zag fans. Pretty cool. I thought to myself, "No wonder they are so good on the road." hahaha

I'd like to feel that this could be an easy game tonight, but honestly, I can't allow myself to think that way because I know that LMU will be going out at the Zags with everything they have. I also know that the Zags will have to play well tonight. And I'm sure they will. So get your Zag gear on, and if you need to get your VCR set, and get ready for a really fun night. The more I watch this team the more I love them. It's really an amazing team, and different than any team that's gone before them.

    Go Zags!!!

I think I still have a VCR, but haven't used it in ages. A DVR is so much easier. Anyways, I will be watching live; so glad the game is on CBS-SN. No streaming tonight, the Zags will be on my big screen. Not a fan of these late starts, but any Zag game is always a blessing. Going to Subway later to get the lucky Zag sandwich for dinner, with a bottle of Merlot for the adult beverage tonight.

    Go Zags !!!

Game starts at 10 PM here, bummer. Other than that, I'm happy it's Game Day.

We have no easy games left IMO. LMU is known for mucking things up, though I'm still expecting us to win tonight.

We need our top 6 to put the pedal to the medal tonight, get more PT to Martynas and the rest of the bench. It's most important to Martynas and Pavel to get some time in, as those two will be needed until Killian's fully healthy.

We should be well rested come March. After Saturday's game at SMC, we have just 4 games over the next 3 weeks, followed by a full week off until our first game in Vegas.

You're right, Reborn...this team is unique from Zag teams we've seen in the past. We had so many unanswered questions heading into the season, yet this team is 23-1. We lost 4 of our top 5 scorers, and a point guard who set the career record for assists. Filip and Corey have made their marks, while Admon and Ryan have been dazzling as newcomers. Joel has been a revelation, and Drew is making a name for himself. The wildcard for us is Killian, specifically his health. Can Martynas take Anton's place in the rotation? There's still several games remaining to accomplish that...I'm pulling for the young man.

This waiting is killing me. I realize that the Zags have no control over the tip time tonight, it's a national TV game. But I wake up early every day, and on game day, the game is front and center in my mind. I know it's far worse for the East Coast fans, it's an 11 pm tip time. I'm already wired up on RockStars and vodka; I'll save the Merlot for Saturday.

LMU ended on a 13-5 run (zags just 5 points in the last 5 minutes). The bench guys and b-team prove why they don't get more game minutes in non blowouts.

Yeah! They played really bad. Their defense was simply horrible. The Zags really have a thin bench right now. Arlauskas was trying to force the drive too much and really got himself tangled up on the inside and turned the ball over a few times.

I loved the time there near the end when the Zags were in disarray and Timme broke the press.
