Default GU vs Santa Clara - Predictions/Thoughts/What you do hope to see

Coming up is the first of what look like three tough match ups... luckily at home. Up first is a tough Santa Clara Broncos team (15-3 overall, 2-1 in conference). Broncos are coming in on their third straight road game and coming off a big win at St. Mary's.

What are you hoping to see in this game? Expecting to see? Thoughts? Predictions?

Have at it boys and girls!

I'm really looking forward to this game. I'm curious as to how good Santa Clara really is. They're hard to gauge because their SoS isnt great, but their record is. I could see anything from a Zag blowout to a neck and neck game like vs Pepperdine. Should be interesting.

I think this will be a good game and expect GU to dominate at home; however, SCU will be a really tough out on the road!

I think that our two closest games this month will be BYU at home (if Childs is healthy) and SCU on the road...

Guessing final score at this time - TBD

I think the Broncos will have a let down after the big win in Moraga. Later start than usual (8 pm), so keep the coffee and energy drinks flowing !

Santa Clara is ranked 75 in the NCAA NET rankings. This is the best team Gonzaga has faced since Arizona. This will be an interesting window into this team’s development over the past month. I’d love to see our kids come out with the defensive intensity worthy of their first credible opponent in weeks.

Was going to put a prediction up... but decided to contemplate it for another day or two. This is a tough one

The students are back on campus, so the Kennel should be rocking. Santa Clara will be fired up after their win against St Marys, and come to Spokane feeling invincible. However, Few and company will have the team well prepared for whatever the Broncos throw at them and avoid an upset. Zags 84 Ponies 76

Boy, the WCC has a few teams battling it out for #2. Glad this game’s in McCarthey as I feel Killian’s in for an impressive game at home. Tacos! I think this game will separate the Zags from the pack.

I hope to see FTs >75% ..... feel we’ll need that to reach 90 points.

Probably going to be way off... but after careful consideration... expecting an absolute nail biter.

Zags overcome foul troubles, turnovers, and lousy free-throw shooting to eke out a win.

Default WHO SHOWS UP: THE BRONCOS or THE BURROS

Which Santa Clara squad will show up against the Zags? The one that lost on the road to Nevada by (gulp) ... 31 points.
Or the one that beat Cal Bears by 19 (in Santa Clara)? I think Zags are capable of a blowout in The Kennel, but will temper things a bit and say:

I just finished watching the Broncos beat St. Mary's, and saw Heister's Mark Few Show reminding us that Santa Clara has given us some very close games in last decade. I had forgotten they gave us hell right down to the wire so many times.

One of my favorite Zag games ever was Dower nailing a 3 down in the Leavey Center with a couple seconds left to steal a win after Gonzaga blew a late 10 pt lead.

Another great game at Leavey was in 2008, Steven Gray’s freshman year. SCU only needed to inbound the ball and run out three or four seconds for the win in regulation. The inbounds pass was tipped and ended up near centercourt. Gray went for the ball and the infamous Brody Angley fouled him unnecessarily. Gray calmly sank two free throws to send the game into the first overtime. Zags won it in the second overtime.
