Default GU vs Pepperdine - Predictions/Thoughts/What you do hope to see

Sorry, I really should have gotten this one up last night after the other game was over.

Next up for the Zags... The Pepperdine Waves. Waves have been a tough read this season. They have played good teams closely and gotten thumped by lesser teams.

What are you expecting to see in the Zags WCC home opener? What are you hoping to see? Thoughts? Predictions?

Hopefully, a bounce-back game for the #1 team in the nation. More of what we saw in the 2nd half last night vs. the 1st. Plus, it's in the Kennel.

YOUR #1 RANKED GONZAGA BULLDOGS 104
    INVADERS FROM MALIBU 71

    Would like to see:

70% or better team free-throw shooting
Tillie with a double-double on the order of 20 and 12 in under 25 minutes of PT
Watson play 20 minutes without another shoulder slippage
Gilder make 3 (or more!) treys
70% or better team free-throw shooting (yes, I know: I said it twice!)

GU 97 Waves 66. I don't think Few likes Pepperdine's coach all that much, and probably won't be going easy on them.

I expect the guys to come out far more focused. I think they learned something about being Number One on Thursday.

My prediction for all remaining games except at SMC is Zags 90+ opposing team 60-70.

    Smile Health, Health!

Pepperdine has nice athletic talent, but it's mostly young. They'd have a stronger Win Column if not for injuries to important players, like sophomore Andre Ball (G, 6-7). Mark Few, in a TV interview (forget the program), praised Pepperdine's talent. This fan's disappointed for Coach Romar, his crew, and Pepperdine's fans.

    Young'uns, a poem
    <ahem>
There once was a team Malibu,
    Which suffered inj'ries, "O, boo-hoo!"
    Their young'uns competed,
    But still got defeated,
By the fellers in the red and the blue.

Hope to see Tillie playing. Dude went all out vs Portland and seemed to play with a “damn my injuries” warrior mentality to assure Zags avoided the upset. I’m real curious to see if his knee/ankle respond ok. Ditto re: Gilder. That was a nasty fall he took and I’m guessing he was very very sore the next day.

Zags start game w same intensity they started 2nd half w vs Portland. Hope to see Kispert shoot well and Arlauskas to earn minutes. Hope Zags shut down Watson and get him healthy. Petrusev stay in beast mode; he is looking fantastic.
