Default Challenge to Phish and Phish Wanna-Be's.

Which is the BEST font for the Foo?

I am not saying we need use it from this day forward, all I am asking is whether there might be a perfect Foo Font.

I know that if one exists, Phish should be involved in the choice.

It is critical to get right.

It might have to actually be comic.

It might not be an option.

Or, it might even be one that I think I like, which is this one.

    No Comic Sans... NO!!!!!!!!!

    Garamond has a snappy look.

Trebuche... cool name... cold appearance though.

IMPACT might be a bit much.

Wow. This thread is glorious! Five fonts!

It's a wonderful conundrum, as any typeface deemed appropriate for the Foo would be instantly controversial and arguably disqualified. Nice one, Dixie!

I feel on board with the Mad Man, though with a variant -- I love Ed Benguiat's "Beng Bats"!

Ed Benguiat is a legend in the type design world. (Jazz totally knows the guy!) Just an amazing talent.

House Industries made fonts of a number of his typefaces, and one of them ("Ed") contained Beguiat's version of wingdings -- nonsensical, yet well executed; a bit like this joint.

As a bonus, you couldn't make any sense of it if you strung it together in any order.

I asked myself, “What would kdaleb’s, ‘Counting in Binary,’ thread look like in Wingdings?”

Apparently, 0 and 1 characters are represented by images of open and closed folders.

Man, what does Wingding have against the letters "M" and "N" ??

He must hate those two letters.

You could write a Hallmark card with that stuff and it would look evil and threatening.

Point of order, but what got me thinking about this again, was not some warm-fuzzy feeling about all cool stuff, it was just how much suckier the WCC logo and typeface gets with time. It actually gets worse with wear.

I have a tiresome rant that percolates across the entire game. Honestly, Mrs. Phish could use a break.

    But that logo...

"Bing Bats" would have been a more appropriate font name.

Phish, what's the word on the above selections we have - under "Font" cleverly enough, at the top here, which one do you:

    1. Like in terms of mixed art/practicality

    And, if different,

    2. Which one would be best for Foo?

And then we move back to finding just the creepy, cool, whatever and post on pdf or whatever people are using, I can't seem to do it.

None of the options are practical, which of course is a good match for the context. The ransom font feels oddly appropriate for a bunch of people who operate under aliases and rouse rabbles and whatnot.

You know, it could be more like the Pantone color of the year; changing every year, purely arbitrary, utterly meaningless yet popular for some. We could vote on it?

I like seeing the word Foo in Liza, Montage, Studio and Ed Interlock -- but they're all so silly. And expensive to license. And too foofy for foo. Still.

The new WCC logo looks amateurish. It looks awful on the player uniforms.

The New England Sports Network, our regional channel that broadcasts most of the Red Sox and Bruins games, just swapped out their old logo for one that is almost as bad. Compare this:
