I want to see tons of bench minutes. We have some healing to do. We need subs.

Another good OOC test. Home court advantage tempered by local "rivalry" element and no KC.

Would love to see some analysis from someone with basketball experience who has watched EWU play. I watched the EWU/UW game. My layperson impressions: EWU is high-energy, scrappy, willing to play to contact, not intimidated by opponent's name on jersey, and very capable 3pt shooters. I think we control game and tempo if we can use our size advantage inside both to score, get second-chance points, draw fouls, and rebound. This also assumes we limit TOs to 12 or fewer, don't get in early foul trouble, and play determined right from start (even though crowd may be less than inspiring) and not just assume we can "turn it on" at the end.

This feels like a letdown game that is never comfortable until the final buzzer. Some late missed free throws will keep it closer than it should be.

    Zags win 81-86.

Yep. If we are ever a teams "Super Bowl", this is it. They have been the red headed step child of GU forever. 20 min down the road, and yet never a mention, no return game, etc. They will be fired up and if they can get and maintain some momentum, take the crowd out of the game, I think we lose this game. I have been more worried about this game than most. They shoot over 50% from 3 for the game and we are doooooomed.

Believe it or not, we have lost the game before the team's Christmas/Holiday break NINE times in the Mark Few era i.e. since 1990-2000 season

We have lost nearly 50% of the games before Christmas day

    Wow

    Classic trap game for certain

That surprising stat is almost thread worthy

I like that that the Zags haven’t got too big to fit in a local match up. Gonzaga win 97-78. Hope of bench guys see a good minutes on the court.

It's interesting you say that, because I'm the opposite. There's no reward and an elevated risk playing a local team like Eastern that will turn in the game of their lives every single time. The Zags get no credit for a win, and a loss is devastating.

I'm surprised that we don't do a home-and-home; our fans would completely over-run Reese Court. Anyways, it will be the 3 Stooges on the call; let's hope for minimal streaming issues as the game is on ROOT and not ESPN.

NET rankings show this is a quad II game. This is a big upside to winning under the NCAA formula, better than UNC at this point.

As for that terrible 50% loss right before Christmas stat, I dearly hope that is posted in the locker room so they avoid the attitude that they will skate to a win.

    "Devastating" seems a little... strong.
My posts indicate that I don't seem to follow college basketball all that closely.

Davison (18.1 ppg), Aiken (16 ppg) and Peatling (15.7 ppg) will give GU a good fight. The Eagles have averaged 90 ppg. Stats Link: https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb...gton/2020.html

    From GU SID:

    A ZAG WIN WOULD ...
    - Make Gonzaga 115-42 in December games under Mark Few.
    - Extend GU's home win streak to 30, currently the longest in the nation.
    - Be the 32nd consecutive home non-conference victory.
    - Improve the Bulldogs to 41-1 against the Big Sky Conference under Few.

    Prediction:

    Zags 97
    Eagles 81

Except a track meet. Hope for no aggravated or new injuries. Depend upon a Zag win.

Go Zags! Win this one, take a break, then return to show no mercy to Detroit or the WCC.

Thinking Few will go to bench towards the end of the game thus the score.
