    Post game radio GU-UA

Hudson and Morrison: GU holds off a late charge as the wheels fell off with about a minute and a half to play. Woolridge who has had trouble at the line this year sealed the win with a pair from the line. 17-30 from the free throw line for the game but Woolridge got two when it counted. Kispert with 18, Petrusev with 16, Gilder 16 and Ayayi 12. The Zags were terrible from the free throw line but UA was just as bad from three, shooting just 26.7% at 8-30. UA scoring, Green 17 Nnaji 16 and Jeter 10. After a tough first half rebounding it ended almost even with UA outrebounding the Zags 44-43.

Michaelson: We had a really good 25 minutes or more from the 10 minute mark of the first half to about the last three. We had some incredible defensive numbers over that span. Our effort the first 6 minutes was really really bad, but we had some guys really step up when we needed it. Woolridge two free throws when everyone else was missing was outstanding. Woolridege does not get enough accolades for his defensive efforts. Mannion is a lottery pick and Woolridge held him to 3-20 shooting. You can't say enough about Kispert leading this team. Admon came in and really stepped up. We lost Anton right away and then Tillie get dinged up a bit. And then we are really shorthanded the last 6 minutes and we had to go small and we still held on. It's pretty special to win and its pretty special to have UNC coming to the Kennel. Michaelson had a lot to say about the character of the team, overcoming difficulties and injuries and different guys stepping up but I just couldn't keep up with the interview. He WAS not happy about the last three minutes, obviously.

Gilder: It's always fun when you come in a place lilke this and everyone steps up and you win. I think it took a little while for us to settle in here. When Corey hit a three that really got everyone going. We'll take this win and now we'll get ready for UNC. It felt good to knock down the shots, I was able to come in and knock down some shots when we needed it. You can see the versatility of our team, when we can play so many different ways. When I looked on the schedule I told a couple of my friends who big of a game this is for Spokane to have a team like UNC coming into the Kennel.

Hudson noted Admon only has one season here and sometimes it takes a while for guys to get doing in the GU system and Admon has had some tough going but he stepped up and made those three from the corners and both were absolute daggers.

More from Hudson: The first half had an interesting feeling. The Zags just couldn't seem to get over the hump until Corey hit the big three. It wasn't like the Zags were playing bad defense, they just couldn't seem to get going and after Kispert's three things seemed to turn around. Kudos to Gilder for taking and making the big threes. He is now coming off the bench and that is a little different for a guy who was starting, But he came in and made the shots the Zags needed. Ayayi had 5 rebounds and 7 assists to go with his points. Morrison noted he was about to start celebrating when GU had that 16 point lead but UA had that quick 15-1 run before Woolridge hit the free throws. Morrison noted UA did the same thing against Baylor when they were down big and closed it almost all the way down eventually losing by 5. That's what I got, I hope it's all correct?

Ayayi had 15points, not sure why Espn counted the putback at the end for Gilder.

Chase Jeter just suspended by Arizona for the final 2 games of his final season.

The career highpoint for this guy was starting in high school over a younger Zach Collins.

Chase Jeter has played his final minutes in McKale Center. The Arizona Wildcats center has been suspended for the rest of the regular season for a violation of team rules, the UA announced 30...

"Jeter hasn’t been much of a factor lately anyway, totaling just 22 minutes since Jan. 12, the last game before he tweaked his back in practice. The fifth-year senior was a starter before then. He is averaging 6.8 points and 4.3 rebounds in 16.8 minutes this season."

So much apparently unrealized potential and a lot of ink and keystrokes spilled on this board talking about him as a potential Zag. We dodged a bullet,

Fortunately Arizona's NET ranking is high enough that our road win there is solidly Quad 1

Interesting news and good points that you made. I suppose similar things could be said about Brandon Williams. Maybe they are reaping what they sow there. I have no sympathy for UA but feel badly for both players.

Maybe we "dodged a bullet". But, who's to say his career might have been much more productive at GU surrounded by the right teammates, friends, coaching staff, etc. Impossible to know at this point. What we do know is Arizona wasn't the right place for him.

                              This, IMO.
                              But we don't play nobody.
