Here’s an article on what to expect.
    https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball...2019-20-season

Thank god they got away from the RPI (RIP). Zags 61st?!?
    https://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-ba...rating-by-team

I think the Zags will be 1 or 2 seed.

    Thumbs up

Thanks for that "What to Expect. . ." article Link, 23dpg.

But the top 10 teams in the NET rankings on Nov. 26, 2018, were as follows (2018-19 finish in parentheses):

    1. Ohio State (20-15, lost in the second round of the NCAA tournament)
    2. Virginia (35-3, won national championship)
    3. Texas Tech (31-7, national runner-up)
    4. Michigan (30-7, lost in the Sweet 16)
    5. Gonzaga (33-4, lost in the Elite Eight)
    6. Duke (32-6, lost in the Elite Eight)
    7. Michigan State (32-7, lost in the Final Four)
    8. Wisconsin (23-11, lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament)
    9. Virginia Tech (26-9, lost in the Sweet 16)
    10. Loyola Marymount (22-12, lost in the third round of the CBI)

Nine of the top 10 teams made the NCAA tournament, seven made the Sweet 16, five made the Elite Eight, three made the Final Four and two played in the national championship game. Six of the eight teams that were eliminated from the NCAA tournament (with Virginia being the ninth team) lost to another team that also debuted in the top 10 of the NET.

We need to show well on NET because our RPI sucks and is likely to stay that way.

Realtime RPI has the Zags 52nd after last night's game. http://realtimerpi.com/rpi_408_Men.html

At the moment their first 7 opponents (incl. SoMiss) are a combined 10-53. The front-end of our OOC was terrible. After UNC we finish up with EWU (#77) and Detroit Mercy (#277)

Overall we are slated to play 13 sub-200 rpi games based on today's rankings

WCC looks much better overall this year. RPI should get better. BYU and St. Mary's plus Pepperdine and USF and maybe Santa Clara will give some challenges.

5 teams in top 100 of NET is a pretty good starting point for the conference.

Wow, San Diego St at #3. There's a good chance they won't play a ranked team all year.

We are unlucky that T A&M is a Quad 4 even with it being a road game.

USF has a chance to pick up a NET enhancing win tomorrow when they travel to Maples Pavilion to take on Stanford. Too bad the game is on PAC12; would have enjoyed seeing the Dons vs. Cardinal.

    Thumbs up Thank you, sittingon50

The folks that run the CollegePoll Tracker have added a site for tracking the NET and it includes a live bracket based on NET rankings. GUB user sittingon50 shared the links in a separate thread.

    Here they are:

I will also add these to the Menu over at the General Basketball forum, linked in my sig line

What if Child’s wasn’t suspended for the first several games this year??

BYU is better now than their record suggests. They’ll be tough.

Glad we didn't switch conferences - though SDSU would be an interesting rival.

But 5 teams in the top 90? 3 in the top 40? I think that is a pretty significant improvement. If anything, SMC a bit of a disappointment that they're not top 20. They have the talent it would seem.

We are riding road wins at UW and AZ, plus a victory over Oregon. The rest of the schedule is flat embarrassing. Though TAMU looked better when scheduled, UNC no one would've thought would be 90 (hopefully they'll move up, as they get used to playing w/o Anthony, then when he's back). We have a chance to chalk up as many as 6 more real quality wins, 2 on the road - though I do not expect us to go undefeated this year.

I would take one loss if offered right now. I suspect 2 is more likely, and a 2 seed.

I dont understand how jazz gets so much negative material to post for the #1 team in the nation--if he worked that hard on researching positive info (or even middle ground info) --this board might have a different feel for readers.

jazz the negative broken record thing gets old ---lets try a new years resolution of 2 positive things written about Zags for every negative thing you post --- maybe get some more traffic back on this site --rather than so many bailing becasue they do not want to read your negative drivel.

    2 25 plus one
    5 NET

In the formerly useful stat that no longer matters ... Zags are in the 40's. Gonzaga is certainly reaping the benefits of their OOC scheduling. At least that is what I think.
