I don't think Nico will be a lottery pick....at least based on his last two games...
Thanks for the correction, Kemo, Been a long day
I enjoy reading this 'post' of the games... thanks for your tireless efforts. Have a Merry Christmas.
P.s Question: Has the Men's and Women's Zag teams ever swept the conference games in the same year?
The Women probably will sweep this year, and most everyone here, feels the Men might (maybe one down night?) .......??????
St Johns beats AZ....ouch
It is their time....their team...I just get to watch. - Bartruff1
St. Mary's has a beautiful campus and a super location tucked away aginst a hillside in Moraga.
I can only imagine that change is coming soon! Great coach, like Few has had numerous offers over the years to go to bigger programs. They obviously have something going there in the east bay with the basketball product they put out year after year.
USF just got 15mil from the Sobrato family to upgrade their gym, and he's a SC alum! There is definitely money out there it just has to be a priority for the Gaels (Christian brothers).
St Mary's program is too good for it not to happen soon!

St. John's also beat 10 - 1 West Virginia; the Red Storm are going to be competitive in the BE this year so I wouldn't call it a bad loss for the Wildcats
For reference: this morning's KenPom rates the three squads above:
SJU - 84
WVU - 23
AZ - 16
Arizona looked listless vs SJU, they played better in 2nd half, but still not very good. Yes, they miss shots, yet if they would have played with 1/10th of the effort they showed vs us, they could have beaten St John's. They were down double digits most of 1st half. Besides their freshman big, they looked out of it. Very much post finals rusty type play.
Oddly they took a full 7 day break after our game, and they are now on a 13 day break for Holidays. That's 1 game in 20 days.
Not the best method for a young team in search of shooting confidence before Pac 12 play.
I didnt even recognize that Arizona team until about mid way through the 2and half, when they woke up a bit as a team, well mostly just Nanji and Mannion, but still...
For the life of me, cant figure out why Jeter has never really developed since, maybe, high school?
Zags victories seem to have this effect on good teams from time to time, to go in slumps after hard fought games.
St John's decent this year, yet Zona had no business losing that game, esp with a full week prep, and another 2 wks off afterward

Have a holly jolly. . .
SDSU now 12-0 after blowing out Utah by 30. Utes were coming off a win vs Kentucky, & BYU in OT.
Aztecs Rank #20. Far too low.
What gives ya think?
They now have wins, and mostly blowout, dbl digit wins over:
@BYU
Creighton
Iowa
Utah
@Colorado St
@USD
Still undefeated with a few quality wins, should be near Top 10 with that resume imho
Watch out for them come March, might have to go through them in the West
Gosh: SDSU's poll rankings are a joke. They're #2 in the NET, undefeated, and as you point out, they've beaten some quality teams. I think they're Top 10 good now. . .it may take a few polls them to leapfrog the competition.
I know that I am personally tired of hearing the "high school" gym comment.
The problems are known, your campus is such that it makes growth extremely difficult, it can be hard to move a lot of traffic in and out of Moraga in the best of times, and you have a small alumni community compared to Cal and Stanford - plus lots of competing events.
Just keep reinvesting in what you have, expand it, modernize, all that. I think we should be above the whole "high school gym" thing. BYU with it's massive place hasn't overrun the conference.

I'm with Coaches Fraschilla and Martelli. There ought to be NO games from the 24th - 31st. Let the players and coaches be with family. And the NCAA should give the players some sort of stipend to help the travel budget.
That being said, there will be a great slate of games this coming weekend. Lots of Top 25 teams in action. Will post those "Other Game" threads Friday. In the meantime,
Best Wishes to the GUB for a safe, drama-free holiday.

Thanks Reno, I appreciate you doing this each day. It’s my go to thread to determine my CBB watch schedule.
Merry Christmas.
Keeping real estate real in the Wenatchee Valley since 1991.
Reno,
As always your efforts are greatly appreciated!!! I am glad you're retired so that you can spend all this time pushing updates regarding the Zags and other basketball information...
I'm with you regarding games...none from even 23 December through 3 January...and the NCAA should allow schools to pay for Coach fares home for the Christmas/New Year's Holidays...
BTW in the "olden days" the Rainbow Classic was a premier tournament, which I saw many times while stationed at Camp Smith...in fact the NCAA use to allow a local military team to participate...think the last time was 1975, when SUBPAC (a Navy team composed of ex-colligate basketball players) beat Tennessee...
Merry Christmas, Reno.
Agree on shutting it down from the 23rd to 31st. Give the kids a week, and bc they could be anywhere in the nation on the 23rd, arrange flights for kids home and back to school. With CBS billions coming in and coaches making high six figures into the high sevens, a $1000 for a flight to get a kid home is nothing. Make it a national thing.
It would result in better basketball, too, on both ends.

Bogo: I'm glad I'm retired too.
Thank you for the kind remarks. I enjoy doing it.
