Anyone else watching Washington/Houston? Currently tied with about 5 mins left.

The announcers spent much of the first half talking about Gonzaga, speculating about if Gonzaga would win a UW rematch, etc.

Something about Mcdaniels' demeanor and apparent non-hustle or concern for teammates rubs me the wrong way. Supremely gifted and with a tremendous body for the game, but seems like a guy unlikely to maximize his natural potential.

Reno should be given a medal.....a gold one. Tireless, thorough, gives of his personal time and he gets it right. Super job. ALL Hail!! And Merry Christmas to him! And others!

Down goes #21 UW to Houston.

I expect Houston to be ranked, but UW to fall into the others receiving votes.

Bad for GU's strength of schedule, but UW looked very UW-ish. Blew a 14pt lead, and really only Stewart was their offensive presence. Mcdaniels disappeared and seemed uninterested. No points his final 32 minutes, lots of fouls and TOs.

    Pacific 0-0
    San Francisco 1-2
    BYU 1-1
    Pepperdine 0-3
    Portland 0-1
    Loyola Marymount 0-1
    San Diego 0-3

My apology for injecting this here but didn’t think worthy of its own thread.

What? ESPN chose to air an old 5 year or older game between SDSU and the Zags last night. A game the Zags lost. It was from KO’s freshman year I think with Sacre, Gray, Monninghoff, Harris and Meech playing.
SDSU were very good that year, but I find it troubling that ESPN chooses to air a game from old archives like that for the current #1 ranked team in the country. Was that a DIS?

BYU had a quality win over Houston, without Yoeli Childs (20 & 10).

Cougs didn't have Childs first 9 games and still had wins over Houston, Virginia Tech, UCLA, et al. They lost very close games vs undefeated #15 SDSU, & gave Kansas a game til the final minutes.

Since Childs' return, they lost a heartbreaker vs Utah in OT, blew out a good Nevada team by 30+, beat UNLV 30+, & beat Top-25 Utah St.

BYU could very well challenge us for the League Title this year, I don't see them losing many games, no more than us tbh.

They have tall guards who can stroke it, good size (both frontcourt guys go 240lbs+), much more team oriented than previous "bombs away" seasons. Their entire starting lineup are comprised of sneaky 4*, Top-150 talents, which rarely gets mentioned.

Their starters match us in overall recruiting stars, if not more this season.

Have a feeling it will be BYU and Gonzaga with 2 losses/piece at seasons end, with that February 22nd game deciding League Champions. SMC a close 3rd.

McDaniels looked like a completely different player vs Houston, compared to Zags.

Always frustrating to watch teams/players give 110% vs Gonzaga, then a shell of themselves the next game. Just another example we have "arrived", opponents get 'up' to play us

Nope. Have seen it before over the years along with many other games. Totally random, I assure you.

UW didn’t look at all like a Top-25 team during the closing minutes. Isaiah Stewart played like a beast down low, but they couldn’t seem to score unless he was the one to do it. The guards made a series of sloppy turnovers and chucked some difficult, contested shots that missed badly. They couldn’t get a defensive stop. They failed to secure rebounds that went right through their hands. Houston played better team ball and came away with a win that looked a lot easier than the final score would suggest.

Vols missing their senior PG, Lamonte Turner. . .Barnes will have a tough time making the Big Dance if this slaughter at the hands of the Badgers is any indication.

Big Ten will be a very tough conference this season. . .seems like it every year.

Starting to pity Cal. His team is awfully mediocre. Sestina the Bucknell kid is in his top 3 players. I thought Nick Richards was a one and done, like 5 years ago.

Happy for Cal. See avatar. But more dislike of Mack and the most crooked CBB program for decades.

Zags seem conspicuous by their absence this weekend. Just odd the #1 team isn’t playing.

I wish we had a "Montana" or "Oregon State" or "Utah State" type of team to play next.

I just think this team now needs better warm-up tests. They are way ahead of schedule.

imo, they've had their tests. i am good with them getting healthy in low pressure games at this point. feel injuries (particularly lingering ones) are much more likely to derail this team than a lack of experience with adversity.

also good with giving the kids a slightly longer christmas break, and having their first game back on monday rather than having a weekend game. i dig how few prioritizes giving them time away and with their families christmas week.
