Thumbs down Mike Leach Lays Into John Blanchette

    Story Link: https://www.spokesman.com/stories/20...eachs-postgam/

John Blanchette: So you’re not supposed to beat teams that have higher-ranked recruiting classes?

ML: “Well, we certainly have before. We didn’t win this one. And I don’t care to have a big discussion with you on it because I don’t really care what you think …”

JB: Mike, you’re playing with nine …

ML: “… you run your little column and stuff like some sanctimonious troll, where you’ve never been fair or even-handed with us, so I really don’t care what you think. OK, go ahead, because you’re going to write some really nasty stuff like you always do. And I don’t know which Coug way back when did something that offended you, but I don’t really care about that either. If you can live your little meager life in your hole and write nasty things and that makes you feel even, you go right ahead.”

Leach calling anyone sanctimonious is one of the funniest things I've ever read. He's a total ass-clown.

Agreed. Go back and read how Blanchette covers WSU. Started with Price. It's rare he ever writes anything complimentary about WSU without throwing a backhanded compliment.

Which makes leech's words accurate, acceptable & appropriate. Gotcha.

It’s never wise to pick fights with someone who buys ink by the barrel as they say. But that being said, after a frustrating (another) AC loss and JB trolling Leach along with the years of his passive aggressive BS and backhanded compliments I get why he went off on him. There were coaches all over the country smiling after this.

Maybe leech should have pulled out his sword & swung it. That would be neat.

Funny listening to the huskie DC saying how it's the easiest game of the year to game plan for. leech too cool to try anything new.

I get it, you hate LeAch (I assume that is a passive aggressive misspelling in honor of Blanchette).

Ask Oregon,Utah, Stanford and even USC how easy he is to prep for. Washington appears to be his kryptonite but he’s likely a Hall of Fame coach.

    Mike Leach’s last three stops:

    Lubbock, Texas
    Pullman, Washington
    Starkville, Mississippi

Takes a special kind of dude to do that.

Bud Withers' blog turns to Mike Leach:

    https://en.bloguru.com/GloryHounds/3...-of-mike-leach

Yes, Leach was a character, like a lot of other former WSU coaches. But there the resemblance ended (along with the resources available). Cougar coaches of yore would every now and then rise up and swat down a superior Washington team in the Apple Cup – while often struggling against the rest of the schedule. Meanwhile, Leach managed fine against Oregon and Stanford, but his complete meltdowns against Washington will remain one of our state’s great mysteries. Leach’s unwillingness to do anything different – run a reverse, run a flea-flicker, hey, run the ball against a five-man front – was a total head-scratcher. It was almost as if doing such a thing would repudiate the honor of his system. So he lost, and he lost by the same damn scores every year – 38-13, 41-14, 35-14.

What occurred afterward revealed more about him. He came to cite that Washington’s players were higher-ranked recruits, which of course gave no credit to his bete noire, Washington defensive coach Jimmy Lake. Which, of course, blamed indirectly his own players, something he was good at.
