Watching Saint Mary's tonight, Gonzaga is gonna roll these guys when they play. The only thing that will stop Gonzaga, will be the Zags getting in their own way, a la the WCC final last year. That said, I hope SMC manages to pull this one out.

What an unusual opening day. The top 4 ranked teams play each other and the ACC (minus Duke) started league play already tonight.

Kentucky leading Michigan State 34-24 at the half. Game is on ESPN. I'll have to watch when this St. Mary's game is over.

Those are tough losses - would have been good for the conference to win those games. And not a good look for Pepperdine as they look to show that they belong in the top half of the WCC. Cal is going to struggle to stay out of the PAC12 basement.

Not sue if anyone else watched the #1-#4 teams in the nation?
I didn't see anyone that i thought looked really good. Quite frankly it was ugly as to be expected this early. Mich st. looked flat and seemed to be overwhelmed by Kentucky's speed at times.
Kentucky looked like a bunch of great athletes running around with little continuity and extremely vulnerable on the low post eventhough they won.
    Kansas 28 turnovers.
Duke almost lost to a team that turned it over 28 times.
Im just happy we have a somewhat soft early schedule.

What seems to be par for the course is general sloppiness. 1st game for all... nobody looked all that good. I'd take it with a grain of salt. JMHO... Sparty beats UK easily if that were played in mid to late December.

That would be because that is what they are... every... single... year. Cal can recruit. Yes, I stopped there, intentionally.

Thanks for these, RenoZag. I really appreciate you doing this and having one spot to look for upcoming games. Was out of the routine yesterday, so I missed your post - but would have watched that St. Mary's game if I had looked.

Insanely difficult to watch. The quality of basketball in college seems to get worse every year. I really think I’ll only watch the Zags this regular season and go back to the NBA til March.

No WCC games today. The only OOC opponent hitting the hardwood will be North Dakota, who plays host to Crown College, a Minnesota-based, Division III school

Seattle U visits WSU this evening at 6:00pm. PAC12 network.

The rest of a mostly terrible slate of games can be found here: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...91107/group/50

Jeff Goodman offered up this on twitter re: today's schedule:

Tonight’s college hoops slate is atrocious. The sport needs to change that going forward, and with the TV networks, get a big boy game scheduled each day of the opening week.
What network is going to embrace an early season basketball game that competes with the NFL for viewers ?

    Have a great day
