Zag women and men recognized once again for work in classroom

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Gonzaga women's and men's soccer programs both received the 2018-19 United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award.

The United Soccer Coaches annually recognize college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the field. A total of 994 soccer teams (346 men, 648 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2018-19 academic year.

Of that total, 258 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized. Four West Coast Conference institutions; Gonzaga, Loyola Marymount, Portland and Santa Clara -- placed both its men's and women's squads on the list.

Gonzaga's women's soccer team earned the award for the 11th consecutive season, posting a 3.52 GPA over the 2018-19 school year.

On the men's side, the Zags were recognized by the United Soccer Coaches for the 17th consecutive season. They posted a collective 3.30 GPA.
