Gonzaga - The Greatest Student Section in the Nation!
Thanks for posting these so I can listen when I get a chance.
Does anyone know why the ZAG presale of tickets for 12/21, 12/30 and 1/4 started today BEFORE the sale notice via email? That's never happened before. We usually get a day's notice and much closer to the game dates - not well more than a month out. Anywho, tried to get tickets for all 3 games this afternoon at all price levels and ....... nada.
Perplexed ZAG member![]()
That was weird. I got email at 827 am that sale started at 9. (but didnt see email till 857). Have to use will call, no print at home. At 9, eastern was sold out.
Maybe there was a mistake and the sale really starts today (???) - per past sales when they've usually been on Tuesdays. I'll call GU today. Was a bit too 'disappointed' yesterday to be as civil as a GU loving fan should beIt was also odd to have all tickets go for all games that quickly. If they did all go, and quick too, and so early in the season .... not much point to join ZAG next year. We'll donate any $ to GU in some other fashion.
I called the ticket office and they explained that it was a limited presale so that ZAG members from out of town could know they had tickets and could make travel plans.
They also told me that more tickets for these games will be available on December 11 at 9 a.m. It makes sense because 1) they couldn't have sold that many tickets so fast - especially when many were unaware of the presale and 2) they really don't know how many tickets they will have until the students have an opportunity to secure theirs before Christmas break.
Yeah I am a little upset, but hopefully many good seats remain.
What are we talking about here? Like Gonzaga HOME games tickets? For sale? Without giving away rights to your firstborn? Unless this is super secret thing for members/boosters only, etc. Can anybody explain?
Probably the only Gonzaga fan in Ireland!
These are individual tickets to four or five games a year that occur when the students are on Christmas break and thus the entire section usually taken up by the KC is open for tickets to fans.
There is a hierarchy on who has first dibs to what seats and what games. Jesuits who have passed away and elevated to sainthood are about third on the list, just behind a couple groups.
I cannot speak to the last couple of years, but generally there are still some tickets available for the public at large, to at least one or two games. You might be seeing a game 2 days after Christmas or a terrible team, and sitting in a corner, but there is a chance. Just get all the info possible from the school itself, be early to call/show up, and be open, and I think there's a good chance.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.

Thanks Dixie for explaining. Maybe next season. I live in Ireland I already have seen Gonzaga at home when they played against BYU (about 2 years ago) thanks to season ticket holder who visits Slipper Still Fits site I often visit myself. Not enough time to organise anything (flights, hotel, days off from work), but I will remember about this possibility next time. I wish Gonzaga would visit Europe just once, but I know Mark Few opinion on that.

This more/less explains it although the information is for last season (https://gozags.com/sports/2018/7/11/...ll-access.aspx). Each year we join ZAG (family of 3 and all Zag grads) and I've been able to get tickets for a few games. Last week ZAG members were able to try for the Exhibition game and tonight's game. There are also the games when the students are gone (or other games that are in less demand when students are on campus - rarely the WCC games but occasionally if the opponent is less of a challenge).
Sadly, the ZAG email we got for the 12/21, 12/30 and 1/4 games (students gone and excluding UNC) was not very informative. This is the first season we've been ZAG members that the December games were offered this early and the first time the email notice came the day of the sale. In our case the email came after the sale apparently began. Hence, a bit of confusion.
The game on 12/30 vs Detroit Mercy will likely have quite a few tickets available as many people have plans around that date and Detroit Mercy isn't very well known. For some of these types of games the extra tickets can be available clear up to game day. A few season ticket holder also do not show up. It's really too bad that some system cannot be in place to get these tickets into the community. Yeah, that would be a logistical nightmare trying to know who was or was not going to use season tickets.
With the local popularity of the Zags it'd sure be nice if they resumed having a game at the Spokane Arena (seats around double as McCarthy). I've gone to a couple of games there and the WSU/GU game was quite fun! So were some of the BIS games.
Luckily we happen to be good pals with season ticket holders who can only go to around 1/2 the home games. We now go half with them on their home tickets. Lucky for us they can't go to the UNC game and we'll be there for that one. When we do get tickets as ZAG members (anywhere from 2 to 8 tickets) we often take pals who do not get a chance otherwise to see a home game. Those times can be somewhat hard to arrange as the ticket sales for ZAG members are usually announced on the Monday of the week of the game and the sale starts on Tuesday at 0900 Pacific time. Looks like the process that happened this week was to give some ZAG members a better chance to plan ahead. Same goes for what was said by Dixie on the 12/11 offering - a bit more time to plan for 12/21, 12/30 and 1/4.
Bottom line is that the games are all fun to go to no matter who the Zags play or where you might be sitting in McCarthey. We've been very back row in a corner and still see the court fineIt's a treat to go to each game.
One other way we've seen home games is to show up at Jack & Dan's on game night. Some ticket holders leave their tickets there to give away. If you kindly ask a waiter/waitress to if they know of any tickets - bingo, it can happen. 2 of us went that way once and 1 of us went another time. Kudos to those ticket holders who do think to hand out their tickets to J&D's![]()

. Season ticket holders already have all their individual home game tickets (or are able to pick them up). We already have the 8 games we're going to.
On yet another note .... Usually the tickets you get through ZAG are print at home tickets. There have been cases where somehow the tickets were printed in multiple copies by dirty rats and sold to unsuspecting fans. The first ones will get in - after that you'll be denied access at the door. So, it is not a good idea to take any sort of printed at home ticket from someone you do not know - and make sure they didn't get it from someone they didn't know.
Hope all this helps. Others on this thread may know of options we don't know of.
