Didn't Zach sign an actual contract, not a two-way?

He still could be sent to the South Bay's.
Not even a smile? What's your problem!

These professional teams have two hundred and one different types of contracts...I kinda miss the old days when you just signed with a team...times have sure changed...a few years ago I was younger and now I am a lot older...

Zach signed a 2-way deal with the Lakers. That likely means he spends much of the season going back and forth with the G and the NBA. Literally he will play a game with the G one night and be on the bench for the Lakers the next. He will be one the first call-up for injuries and will get a shot with the Lakers.

Alex Caruso grinded for the Lakers for a few years and finally parlayed it into a real contract with he Lakers this season. JWIII decided it was in his better interest to ditch the 2-way and head to Europe for some real money and further his game. NWG skipped it all together and headed to Europe, got better, proved himself and came back for a real contract. Different strokes for different folks.

Zack will be making a prorated $275K for every day he spends witht he Lakers and $75K for every day in the G. If he spends a enough time with the parent Lakers his contract will auto convert into t an NBA rookie minimum deal (~$800K).

It is a great opportunity for a guy like Zach to prove himself.

Stockton is maybe a $35K salary or $75K max depending on the contract, but those are usually limited and used on younger guys to try to retain their rights.
There are ways to spiff Stockton's deal if the Lakers really need him to stick in El Segundo and manage the G league team. Stockton never really seems to be trying to max his money - or at least has not been good enough to land a meaningful dollar contract overseas. He seems happy sticking around the G league waiting for the odd 10 day contract crumb to fall to him.

News and a Nice Career Update

"David Stockton ... has agreed to join Mets de Guaynabo in Puerto Rico, reports Emiliano Carchia of Sportando. Stockton, 29, went undrafted out of Gonzaga in 2014 and has spent most of his professional career since then in the NBA’s G League. In five total seasons with the Reno Bighorns and South Bay Lakers, he has averaged 17.5 PPG, 7.1 APG, and 3.5 RPG on .450/.372/.823 shooting in 169 games (30.0 MPG). Stockton has also appeared in six total NBA games for the Kings and Jazz, and has some international experience, having played in Croatia in 2016, New Zealand in 2016/17, and Germany in 2018/19.

"The timing of Stockton’s move to Puerto Rico is interesting, since a recent report said he has been named vice president of the new G League players’ union (the Basketball Players Union). That report indicated that Stockton was part of the BPU’s “interim” executive committee, so perhaps he’ll be replaced now that he’s apparently headed to Puerto Rico."

Veteran free agent guard David Stockton, the son of Hall-of-Famer John Stockton, has agreed to join Mets de Guaynabo in …

I'm pretty sure he's still in Puerto Rico, so this would just be his player rights if/when he returns to the G league.
