    Default Detroit Mercy's Antoine Davis

(From an article listing some NCAA records which could fall in the 2019-2020 season)

    Single-season 3-point shots
    Challenger: Antoine Davis (Detroit Mercy)

    Leader: Stephen Curry (Davidson) — 162 3PM

Antoine Davis set the Division I freshman record by making 132 3’s last season, surpassing a mark previously set by Stephen Curry in 2007. Next, Davis could be a candidate to break another of Curry’s records: the single-season 3-point record.

Curry buried 162 triples as a sophomore, a record that’s stood since 2008. He was a trend-setter, a trailblazer when it came to knocking down shots from the perimeter. At Davidson, he lived beyond the arc. Now Davis has established residency behind the 3-point line at Detroit Mercy.

Adding: My thanks to ZagDawg for starting this thread and to the contributors for adding items as the season moves along.

Kind of weird timing-- but I guess whatever works.

Creighton's Greg McDermott has hired San Diego's Terrence Rencher as an assistant coach, per release.

As an assistant at San Diego--In his first year at University of San Diego, Rencher assisted the team in earning a 20-win 2017-2018 season, inclusive of a quarterfinals appearance in the CollegeInsider.com (CIT) Post-Season Tournament. In his second year, Rencher assisted first-time head coach Sam Scholl in improving the team to a 21-win 2018-2019 season, which included a semi-finals finish in the West Coast ConferenceTournament, as well as a National Invitational Tournament (NIT) appearance, the program's first in school history.

Wonder what's up with that? Sam seems to be a terrific guy down at USD.

Jazz, what's the word down there?

Edit: upon further research, it seems another USD Asst. left 19 days before the 1st practice to take an Asst. job at Hawaii (and I believe the Hawaii Coach, a former SMC Asst. has taken a LOA {for health reasons}). Can anyone fill in any of these blanks?

Does this mean we get to refer our wins on the Gaels home court as the "Beatdown at the Bank"-- similiar to the old UW games?

    Default Future Opponents 2019

St. Mary’s loses starter Matthias Tass for season due to a torn ACL.

Best wishes for a full recovery

Thanks for the sentiment. Gaels are without a legitimate 5 for the season. Not great.

They’ll play small and fast. SMC for all their faults can push the limits they are given and will make due the best with what they have

They do have 7'3" grad transfer Aaron Menzies from Seattle U. Bit of a step down from Tass, but Menzies fills the role well enough for them to only need minor adjustments to their scheme.

Their roster also lists 7'1 C Jock Perry. I think they'll be fine.
