Default Anybody else wondering about Jonah?

His brother Jordan didn't move till late. With his brother and old Trojan/Zag Byron Wesley and now possibly Thornton, one has to wonder...

Knockdown 3 point shooter like his brother but not a point guard. Looking at positional needs

I've been wondering if anyone would bring him up. Worth some interest.

A bit undersized for an sg, but I might take a look at him. Much rather have Hommes if he's available though.

    From Dec 30, 2018 ^^

Donny Daniels' connection to the Mathews family was huge in landing Jordan as a transfer in 2016. Jonah was entering college at the same time and didn't follow suit, probably since they played the same position. Donny is now gone though

I really like Jonah Mathews, yet haven't heard anything regarding a potential transfer?

    Never say never.

His shot is gorgeous, high arc, nice elevation, squares to the hoop.

Jonah has been named Pac 12 All Tournament team as a 6th man. He can really stroke it, and get get hot in a hurry.

He reminds me of Norvell in some ways, can score in bunches with more controlled shot selection, yet not nearly the moxie or confidence in his game.

He'd be a great sniper, 3rd guard for us. Not sure he'd start yet would likely back up Kispert and Gilder.

A big time weapon and feel he is a better overall player than his stats dictate. High level shooter, and showed some ability to create for teammates as well.

Would love to have him yet uncertain if he leaves USC.

It means his statistics do not mirror his value as a basketball player.

It means analytics are only useful as a starting point. Numbers are not necessarily transferable to different circumstances and situations. New coaches, new teammates, different philosophies all impact a player and subsequent numbers. And good or bad numbers are not a measure of being a good teammate or a bad teammate. Players can put up good numbers to the detriment of their teammates. Players can produce bad numbers because of a poor fit coaching wise or because a teammate doesn't complement said player's game.

Perhaps rtz has actually seen this kid play and believes he could be a more effective player in the Zag system.
