Minnehaha Academy's Chet Holmgren on college announcement: 'Soon'

Video in the link, Holmgren says, “soon, I promise soon. Before the end of the season.”

Looks like the Minehaha Basketball season goes until March 12th.

Interestingly, he says the last he measured he was 6’9 without shoes. Funny that a lot of sites have him listed as 7’1.

It also mentions that Minnesota’s assistant coaches have been talking to Chet and his dad for 40+ minutes on several occasions recently.

I remember Wilt Chamberlain's teammate Chet the Jet Walker, back in the day. He was also a teammate of the toughest back court in the history of the nba, Norm VanLier, and Jerry Sloan.

My Dad, in 1941, was 6' 7", which was pretty tall for then.

Chet Holmgren and Hunter Sallis, prep standouts at the top of Gonzaga’s recruiting list, are among 10 semifinalists for the Naismith Trophy High School Player of the Year award.

Holmgren, a 7-foot, 195-pound center from Minneapolis, is rated No. 1 by 247sports and ESPN in the 2021 class. Gonzaga is favored to land the versatile Holmgren by five 247sports recruiting analysts in their crystal ball projections.

Holmgren played with Gonzaga freshman point guard Jalen Suggs at Minnehaha Academy and Grassroots Sizzle on the AAU circuit. Suggs was one of five finalists for the 2020 award.

Sallis, a 6-5 combo guard from Omaha, Nebraska, is rated No. 6 by 247sports and No. 13 by ESPN. Gonzaga is a slight favorite (53.8%) over Kentucky (46.2%) to land Sallis, according to 247sports’ projections.

No complaints with the #1 and #6 players BUT that is for the 2021-22 season...what about players for the 2022-23 seasons...these "seasons" approach PDQ...having to recruit is a nightmare and you talk about pressure!!! It just never stops, never...

Zags have definitely targeted guys. Unfortunately, recruiting may be a bit more of a crapshoot for a few years as it may be harder to determine who is really good as less games are played.
