YOU...WILL...BE...MISSED!!!
THANK YOU Donny.
Once a Zag, always a Zag.
This post is for March Madness seeding purposes only.
It'll be interesting who Few gets to replace him, because there isn't a guy like Brian right now who was practically groomed to be an assistant. I would not be opposed to bringing Ray back. I have zero idea what he is doing right now.
Part of me would love to land a big time recruiting specialist that would help GU land better & better talent stateside, but player development has been such an important part of GU's success, and Donny's work with the big guys has been tremendous. He will be missed.
Congrats on your retirement Donny!
Big congratulations on the retirement! But I did not see that coming.

Wow. Did they ever keep this quiet.
If Few has known for two years, then I would be shocked if he didn't have a pretty good idea of who he wants already.

Coach Donny Daniels = Class Act! Thank you, Coach, for all you have brought to the program, but especially to the players. God Bless, and God Speed in your retirement. I have been retired 7 years - best days of my life!
Sounds like he's not retiring exactly. He's going to be DOBO at Utah, which I guess is less of a time commitment.
Love to see ex player like Errol, Sam, Mac , even Jeremy get the spot.
“He’s just had this amazing run of success. There’s obviously a correlation there,” Few said. “It’s probably unrivaled the amount of success he’s had as an assistant.”
There's definitely a correlation between Donny's tenure at Gonzaga and my favorite years of GU basketball. Big shoes.
The only thing you can hang your hat on is change.
This is a huge loss. It is also an opportunity.
Which route will the staff go? Groom a young and upcoming talent or bring in a seasoned vet with connections?
I like promoting from within.

- having just retired myself last month, I say, welcome aboard.
- as a fan, I say, thanks for coming on board, your efforts clearly mark an up tick in the projection of the basketball program.
- best of luck, well wishes to you.
Coach Daniels is top shelf across the board... he will be missed.... Thanks coach...
Go!! Zags!!!

Brandon Roy anyone?
Big loss in my opinion. Not only a great developer of talent, but was a masterful recruiter. I think the recruiting aspect is something Coach Few is hopefully really looking at in a replacement.
Can they keep on the payroll for half-time interviews? He is my favorite. I wish him all the best.
Best wishes to him, he's been an amazing part of the program and the community.
I will thank God for the day and the moment I have. - Jimmy V
