    Default The Masters 2019

The Masters starts tomorrow morning. Rory McIlroy's pursuit of the career Grand Slam is the biggest story. Will Tiger win again at Augusta?

    Justin Rose
    Dustin Johnson
    Jon Rahm

    Brooks Koepka

The greens were as quick as ever on Saturday for the Women's Amateur. . .and the number of patrons (compared to Monday's practice round) was considerably less. Made hole hopping and player watching much easier. Highly recommend that event for April 2020. Enjoyable day on the course and all of the usual concessions, golf shop, etc. were available.

4 Amateurs Make the Cut; World # 1 Justin Rose does not.

    2nd Round Standings

5 Tied for 1st at -7: Molinari, Day, Koepka, Scott, Oosthuizen ( 5 major winners )

4 Tied for 6th at -6: D. Johnson, Justin Harding, Xander Schauffele, Tiger Woods

    2 Tied for 10th at -5: Poulter & Rahm ( Sounds like a patent law firm )

Molinari may don the green jacket when this one is done. . .looks very solid

Due to potential severe thunderstorms, the final round tee times will start at 7:00 a.m., EDT. Play will be in threesomes starting on both 1 and 10, which is a first for the final round.

There were plenty of low scores today. Tony Finau, Webb Simpson, and Patrick Cantlay shot 64. Francesco Molinari shot a 66 and has a two stroke lead over Finau and Tiger.

That was about as exciting a golf tournament as I've ever seen.

To stick that shot at 16, was … amazing. He damn near holed it.

The unreal thing is that the PGA is at Bethpage, the U.S. Open at Pebble. Two Tiger tracks.

He's famous for having won "only" certain courses, year after year, and those are two of them.

He could win another this year. It's not like the "best" players on Earth weren't playing well this week, Brooks and DJ were 2nd,

UVA goes from outhouse to penthouse; Tiger wins his first major in 11 years. . .hard to beat the sports page storylines this week.

After today... going to have to think about getting tix to PGA. I mean it is literally about 10 miles away.

    Have you played Bethpage?

Isn't May a little dicey for weather there?

No... I am so horrible at golf that I gave it up my senior year in HS. For me to hit the fairway I have to be facing it. NOT a good look. That being said... My older brother used to play Bethpage red and blue all the time, only played black a couple of times... he'd tell you they were the toughest rounds of golf he has ever played and that was way before they made it tougher for the US Open years back.

As for weather... nah... May is usually pretty good. Some of the best soccer weekends I have coached during have been in May. Late May runs a little risk of being hot, but for the most part LI in May is almost the definition of spring. Summers get dicey on LI because the heat and humidity can seem to brew up a storm on a dime.
