    Default SLC or San Jose?

Any educated opinions on where NCAA will send Gonzaga for first round?

I anticipate they will be a 1 seed so they are guaranteed to play out west

Zags are #1 seed team with #2 seed resume.

San Jose more fan friendly and Few not a fan of SLC venue. Who knows.

Just buy tickets for Anaheim. )

100% chance Gonzaga ends up in Salt Lake City .... unless they somehow end up as the #1 overall seed. Then Gonzaga would be given the choice of first weekend locations. Otherwise, NCAA automatically sends high seeds to the closest available site. For us, that is Salt Lake City.

What if we are the 4th #1 seed. Wouldn't the 3rd team be sent to SLC since it's closer than San Jose?

No these are pods for the first round games. All of the other one seeds will have pods in the east somewhere, it won’t affect us at all. Since SLC is closer to us that’s where we go, unless we are number one of the one seeds and get to choose our location.

If you make the assumption that GU wins out, how many losses by our competition do you think it will take for us to get the top one seed? For the record I’m not assuming that we will win out, although I think it’s more likely than not at this point.

Two losses by each of Duke, Tennessee, Virginia? One more loss from Kentucky? Am I missing a team?

Zags win out, those teams would need at least two more losses, including Kentucky. P5 forces are deep at work, got to protect their meal ticket known as "The Dance".

Our victory over Duke gives us a fighting chance to nab the top spot...I hope. Maybe Tennessee has to lose 3 times?

There's no way we end up the top overall seed with a losing record and 3 total games against top 25 teams and no such games since early December.

We are more likely to be the highest #2 seed.

As far as the zag seeding, there's no way that Duke and VA won't be better seeded than GU. Out of the remaining #1 aspirants, our best hope is that only 1 team out of UK, TN, MI can claim a #1 as well. In that regard it would be best too see either TN or UK slip up a bit and fall to a definite 2 spot.

Would a 2 seed in San Jose be preferable to a 1 seed in SLC?

I say yes, but none of the potential 2 seeds will knock us out of our closest geographical location, SLC.

Duh, good point, I didn't think of that.

I don't understand why everyone is so anti-SLC. You may all want to go back to 2017 and look at the path to the FF. I am more than fine with SLC.

Have you attended any Zag NCAA game in SLC?

''That 1-16 game, someone else can have that from here on out,'' said Gonzaga coach Mark Few, who also sweated out a six-point win over Southern as a No. 1 in 2013 - in the same arena, no less. ''I've served my time in it. I'll go ahead and land somewhere else.''

SLC attendees at NCAA games skew towards BYU fans who have generally supported our opponents in those early matchups including in 2017. Obviously we prevailed anyway but annoying given that the "smart" thing to do is to root for WCC in every post-season game.

Yes - twice in SLC - where I have never seen them lose
    No to San Jose

The crowd is generally going to pull for the underdog in the first round games. It has been a long time since we have been the underdog in the first weekend

    understand underdog first round logic.

Zags have a lot of Bay Area Alums that would attend San Jose but skip SLC imo.

I attended San Diego first round and Zags had good support in San Diego for OSU and Arizona for first round game. lotta alums in Cali

I'd say San Jose. And it's a good reason to keep believing that the Zags will end up #1 overall seed. WE then get to pick where we want to play. I do not believe that all the other teams who are competing for that top seed need to lose two games. I believe if any of them lose again and Gonzaga does not that we will be a number one seed.

    Go Zags!!!
