A call out to the Spokesman Review.

The Lady Zag's article is still on the top of page 4 today, but they did find space for a couple of pictures to go with the article.

In addition, they posted a gallery of pictures on their web site here: http://www.spokesman.com/galleries/2...rtland-jan-12/

You did better this week SR, let's keep it up.

ZD... more so than us, I’m sure the coaches will be taking notes on the game film and as for the players, they fully understand... that’s what makes them such a great team.
Defense is hard work with little reward at the end of the day beyond bruises, aches and pains. It is a "want to" attitude not a "need to" attitude. Yesterday the girls were slow, not by much, but that half step means a charge instead of a block, a blocked shot instead of a lay-up, a pass out of the key instead of short stop and pop. It was not that the ladies did not play defense at all yesterday, generally speaking they covered the 3 pt shot most of the day and rebounded well. It is the second tier defense, that was being played at maybe 80% yesterday and 80% won't cut it the rest of the year.

Yesterday against the worst team in the league (record wise) we gave up 71 points (we average giving up 56.6 ppg) with most of those 71 points occurring in the 2nd, 3rd and first five minutes of the 4th quarter. We gave up more than our average points per game in essentially 25 minutes of playing time. How many points would BYU, with their top 3 guards who can shoot from the inside and outside, score given yesterday's defense? It is likely that we would have needed most of if not all of those 97 points to win.

LS said in her interview that the team was tired and on the rotational defense side of the ball, they very much looked like it. They played well (for the most part) on offense and rebounded very well, it was just the hard part of the defense where they played soft most of the day.

They got away with it yesterday and as you said, CLF and the coaching staff will get the girls back up to snuff for next Thursday.

It was a win and from the stats and scoreboard (for most pollsters) will look like a convincing victory by the Bulldogs.

Thursday it is game of the week time. Time to buckle up and put both feet forward, we are going to need it.

    Let's get after it ladies,
