    GUnit of the Game - Cal State Bake - 12. 31. 2018 ??

Zags finish out the calendar year with a workman-like effort against a turnover-prone Cal State Bakersfield squad, and enter the WCC regular season with a 13 - 2 record and a Top 10 ranking.
As pointed out in the telecast, Gonzaga's calendar year record was 33 - 4. . .

Early foul trouble for Perkins meant others were tasked with running the offense in the first half.

Jeremy Jones was the "glue guy" for a significant chunk of the first half. . .

Which Zag got your New Year's Eve's celebration off to a rousing start ?

Jones — there when needed someone to step up! Nice double-double, great hustle.

I don't really think there is much of an argument.

Jones was first off the bench after Perkins got into very early foul trouble and just made winning play after winning play.

May not have finished with the best numbers but he was clearly the most important Zag tonight.

Jones with a double double and a ton of hustle, he made the plays that counted BEFORE the game was decidedly in the Zags favor.

I strongly considered Jones (how could you not?)

Norvell really stepped up and took care of the bacon when Perks was on the bench. Snacks had 5 assists compared to 3 turnovers. Very good numbers.

            Snacks got my vote.

I accidentally hit Clarke. Jones was who I meant to pick.

I’m so happy to get to vote for Jeremy Jones, a clear headed warrior while his comrades were floundering.
                  Bonjour tristesse.

I moved the posts discussing the merits of Jones vs. Kispert to their own thread on the MBB. . .

It's a player of the game thread. Debate the minutes one guy gets (or doesn't get) in a different venue.

I cast my ballot for Mr. Jones. Honorable mentions to Zach and the Ruinator.

                    Have a pleasant new year

Why did 4 starters play 30 plus mins in a 50 point blow out? Petrol only 11, Joel 6, Foster 4. Makes no sense.

Jones was IMO the player of the game...defence, rebounding and scoring...he brings the first two every game and scoring is an added bonus...this young man has a lot of "Hart" in him!

I can only think the starters played so much because Few wanted to get them some work against that press, we don't see it much in Conf. play.

Somehow the game slowed down for Jones against the team that has applied the most pressure so far. I really liked what he brought to the table with his defense, offensive rebounding, and poise on offense. He also didn't hesitate when open for 3's. The staff must have confidence in his shooting, because he took (and made) an open 3 just moments after missing one.
