USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll Ranks Zags at No. 22

First appearance in poll since 2014

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga women's basketball team is ranked No. 22 in the most recent USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll that was released Wednesday afternoon. The Bulldogs collected 99 votes following their 79-73 win over then-No. 8/7 Stanford Sunday afternoon at the McCarthey Athletic Center.

The Zags were last ranked in the poll on March 23, 2014 at No. 16. The Bulldogs have now been ranked in the USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll for 80 weeks all-time. The highest ranking the Zags have ever reached in the poll was No. 14 from March 20-27 in 2010.

The Bulldogs are off to an 8-1 start this season which marks the best start in head women's basketball coach Lisa Fortier's five seasons and ties for the best start in program history. Through nine games, the Zags are averaging 67.3 points per game shooting 40 percent from the floor. Zykera Rice and Chandler Smith average double-figures for the Bulldogs at 11.2 and 10.0 points per game, respectively, while Katie Campbell adds 9.8. Campbell is shooting 55 percent from long range to rank second in the West Coast Conference and 21st nationally.

Gonzaga will host Washington State Sunday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. at the McCarthey Athletic Center in its first game this season as a ranked program.
