I'll take Heister any day of the week over "Maui Bill". Don't think I've ever heard anyone as self-absorbed as Walton ... Sorry Bill, you're just not that interesting. We've heard it ALL before, multiple times.

Yeah, I spit up just a little when he said that. Shaking my head, why are we forced to listen to that. Get this: Walton actually believes that he is entertaining us!

I mean, yeah, but the Grateful Dead song references are right on the money.

Default Francis needs to make a Bill Walton BINGO card for tonight’s game.

Gonzaga has defeated Baylor, Illinois, Virginia, Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, UCLA, Arizona, Creighton, Oklahoma, Florida State, Texas A&M, Oregon, Iowa, West Virginia, Auburn, USC, and Washington over just the past three seasons.

I've somehow learned to not be bothered by Walton....not paying attention to his rambling and just watching the game helps.

What I did like from him tonight at end of game he simply raved about Jeremy Jones and stated pointedly "that guy needs to play more." Game recognizes game
He can move 15 ft to the left or right about as fast as my eyes can see it, his name could just as well be Hunter Hustle -ZagsGoZags 11/17/21

I’m clearly in the minority, but I enjoyed the announcers. Y’all take things too seriously.

I'd like to know who the foul was on every once in a while and how many would be helpful too.

This is nothing new. If you are at all interested in the game he is terrible. If you came for sideshow Bill then he is the guy for you.

Bills thoughts and ramblings are the height of sophistication and the brutish basketball game can wait.

Can't you tell by watching the game or seeing the graphic when it pops up on tv?...with that said Heister is horrible

I didn't think he could get any worse. I was wrong. I watched most of the 2nd half on mute.

There wasn't a point in last night's game when I had the sound on. Bill Walton makes my ears bleed with his God-awful commentary. I'd sit in a room for 24 hours straight with Greg Heister reading me Atlas Shrugged before I even entertained the thought of listening to that ignoramus.

That was torture. Too lazy to find the radio link but I also had to mute it at times. Ridiculous.

I know Walton has his fans, but as this thread shows, few and far between. You can get away with just a few fans if the rest don't absolutely cringe and use the mute button, but he drives people away in droves. His broadcast partner was heroic. Deserves hazard pay.

S-R's Vince Grippi and his usual post-game take on the TV announcers. Needless to say, his article is extra long due to Walton:

Fortunately no. Dan Shulman and Jay Bilas announce the semis.

    49 fouls, 54 FT's, 35 TO's, guys slip-slidin' all over the court.

Walton was the best part of the game.

You need someone to tell you what you're seeing?

That’s what is implied to me by him with his ramblings. It’s his public service to the unwashed masses, I guess. I wish he would be internally consistent with what his ideas of what flops/offensive fouls are, at least. He seems to be a contrarian by nature and just disagreed with whatever the play-by-play guy said. I’m happy to learn the difference between an extinct vs dormant volcano and should probably be thankful to have had the bonus distraction of a basketball game.

Bill’s Maui Invitational games for today:

    Tuesday Nov. 20
11:30am PST Xavier vs SDSU loser (E2)
2pm PST Iowa St vs Illinois (E2)

Those poor #######s at Illinois are going to commit suicide before the end of the day. Back to back Bill Walton analysis!
