Jones was 5-5 from the field, is our leading scorer, leading rebounder, had no turnovers and has one foul. He’s kept us in this game.

Observations from the first half:

1) Zags get out to a very sluggish start again--- it will bite them in the ass soon against a good team

2) Forget a deep run if our Pg's cannot start handling pressure better. In this regard, i would love to say i am surprised that Geno is playing hot potato with the other team but he could not handle the ball vs worse defensive teams our first few games.. now a team that plays tough pressure defense? Yikes. 4 or 5 turnovers at least in the first half in about 8 minutes.

3) Petrusev playing hard

If we were playing typical, disciplined GU basketball, we would be up 20. cut the TOs in half and we will be fine despite all of the other issues.

Perkins not taking it too deep under the basket and getting caught in no man's land.

If worse comes to worse, I think GU will play their "best" players for the remained of the game. It feels like Few is keep some energy for tomorrow. Unless I missed something?

That and the fact that the Illini haven't faced our 2 best players all that much. Clarke has played less than 60 seconds, Rui wasn't himself after the fouls, and isn't himself with Clarke out, and Norvelle didn't do much.

If we were playing anyone good we'd be down 10. Hopefully we come out with our stars and push it to 20 fast, get Illini heads down.
