    Default 2020 recruits

Just a quick note that there is a young Western Canadian who certainly should be (and I hear probably is) on the Zags radar.

Calgary's Bishop Carroll HS - Grade 11 Yvonne Ejim. She's 16 years old and played for Canada at the same U17 World Championship as Zag recruit Australia's Eliza Hollingsworth.

    http://www.fiba.basketball/world/u17...er/Yvonne-Ejim

She's a 6' power forward with great athleticism who comes with an impressive pedigree.

She's listed in the top 10 in Canada for her year, but as she's from the west she most likely is not scouted as much as the Ontario girls.

    http://northpolehoops.com/2018/10/07...irls-rankings/

Her brother Melvin played for Iowa State and now plays professionally for UNICS in the VTB (and is a stalwart of the Canadian National team).

I believe that are already many high major programs on her, but the Zag's have a history with Southern Alberta girls (Janelle Bekkering, for example who my source knows well).

Just noticed that also listed with Gonzaga interest is Maggie Besselink another forward, she's from Ontario and recently won the MVP at the Canadian U17 championships . I like the scouting report on her as well.

Both girls are ranked in the Canadian top 5 on this site in the class of 2020.

Haven't found any out about the scrimmage other than it was held here in Spokane. Here is a couple of cryptic tweets from CLF and coach Lindsey Gottlieb of Cal:

From CLF: "Scrimmage day means the season is almost here! Thank you @CalCoachG & @CalWBBall for coming up to Spokane! Love the matchups and always get a TON out of it! Good luck this year!!"

From Coach Gottlieb: Lindsay Gottlieb, Verified account@CalCoachG - "It is always rewarding to scrimmage @ZagWBB Great players and excellent coaching-challenging us to learn and get better. And I get to see my friends @FortZagWBB @coachclinezag and crew! We’ll be cheering for the Zags all year."

Hearing that Zag staff have been up to Calgary to see Yvonne Ejim play in a tournament.

Iowa State, Wake Forest and possibly Princeton are also still in play.

    That is great news.

Looks like it is down to 2 for Yvonne (who is playing with Kia Nurse's AAU team this summer).

Thanks to the lurker for the link...

Sounds like the staff will be watching her play in Michigan this weekend. A decision could be getting closer.

Although nothing official from the Zags own WBB site yet, If Kia Nurse says she's committed, that's good enough for me!

I'm excited to have Yvonne a Zag.

She has just been named to the Canadian FIBA U19 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WORLD CUP Squad.

It is a very talented team and has a chance at medaling even without two of its best players (South Carolina's "dunk queen" Laeticia Amihere and Maggie Besselink).

No doubt having both of those forwards unavailable due to injury has made it easier for Yvonne to grab a spot in the side. The experience playing against the best players in the world will be great for her development.

From what I understand she needs to work on her game away from the basket, this will give her that chance.

Here is the link to the announcement.

and a link to the tournament (starts July 20th in Bangkok) website.

Along with having 4 NCAA players in the side, watch for high major recruit 6'3" F Aaliyah Edwards to make a big impression.

The USA team will be out to improve it's 2nd place finish to the Russian team in 2017.

Can anyone update the Board rregarding OZZY's post from last fall regarding Maggie Besselink? Has she verbally committed somewhere else? If not, do we have interest? Do we have a chance there?

I saw something on Twitter last night regarding Payton Muma, (Class of 21) but I can't find it now. I think Stacy Clinesmith is recruiting her but I can't find it in her feed? According to Muma's twitter page she got an offer from GU yesterday and also includes offers from San Diego, Santa Clara and Montana St. Some info on Muma: https://www.hudl.com/profile/10591467/Payton-Muma

Here's someone new to discuss. The tweet says that, "Gonzaga is the latest to offer PG Keeshawn Barthelemy".
I just looked him up after posting him here and found out wrong team. Should figure we almost never here about girls mentioning offers but the boys mention them all the time.

According to CLF's twitter page, our second 2020 recruit has verbally committed; McKayla Williams, a 6'-0" wing from Windward H.S. in Los Angeles.
